The Department of Anthropology at CU, in collaboration with UCL, DU, and USW, organised an International Conference yesterday on the 8th Rohingya Genocide Remembrance Day 2025. With around 200 faculty members and 400 students attended the conference. It was a BIG academic show!

Professor Dirk Moses will be the keynote speaker in the international conference which is being organised by the Department of Anthropology at the University of Chittagong, in collaboration with UCL, DU, and USW on the 8th Rohingya Genocide Remembrance Day, on August 25, 2025.

Attending an intensive workshop with a lot of national and international delegates on adopting a Draft Refugee Law at the Center for Peace and Justice at BRAC University, Dhaka.

Very good piece to understand why researchers need fund for doing good quality research. Also, conditional funds reduce the quality of research and challenge the academic freedom. Unfortunately, the challenges are mounting across the world, particularly in the US and the UK academia.

I gave a talk at South Asia Center, University of Pennsylvania, this morning on my research and experience in Bangladesh. It was a great interactive session. The Associate Director of South Asia Center gifted me a bag, the center's signature bag, with some small souvenirs inside. Enjoyed a lot!!

Holding a meeting and group discussion with the Bru indigenous group of people in the Thai-Laos border on the 29th of March, 2025. The Bru are an indigenous ethnic group living in Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam. It's was great learning session for me to redefine state from a stateless perspective.

With Dr. Surichai Wun'Gaeo, Professor Emeritus of Sociology; Director, Center for Peace and Conflict Studies, Chulalongkorn University, Thailand. He took me today to hang around the Ubon city. I came in Thailand to give a Keynote speech with his invitation. It was a pleasant time I spent with him.
