No films at Otley Film Society until September - so what to do? Well .......

Our 2025-26 season is over. Information about our next season will be out soon. In the meantime here's how our last season went:

17 films down in our 2025-26 season - and one to go. What better way to finish than with a film which champions the importance of the performing arts - well that's how I saw it - Hamnet. Thursday 21st May at 7.45pm at Otley Courthouse. Tickets £5 (cash please) on the door. Bar from 7pm.

We're off to remote Italy on Thursday (7th May) for 'Vermiglio'. Come along to Otley Courthouse for 7.45pm (doors / bar at 7pm) if you fancy the trip. Tickets on the door - £5 - cash only please.

On Thursday 19th March we will be screening 'I Swear' starring Bafta Best Actor Robert Aramayo. Just the small matter of the London Mountain Film Festival to run first - on Saturday 14th March - as an Otley Courthouse fundraiser. So we decided to screen 'I Swear' as our first Mystery Film this season ('Mystery Film' just means that we leave a couple of slots free and decide later in the season) and it looks like an even better call after Robert Aramayo wins the Best Actor Bafta. See you on 19th March at Otley Courthouse.

Our film this Thursday (5/2 at Otley Courthouse) is 'Touch' - a 2024 romantic drama film that spans several decades and continents. Films are screened at 7.45pm. The venue, and the licensed bar, open from 7.00pm. Guest tickets are £5 on the door – cash only please. Naffle & DVD sales as usual.

With the Oscar and Bafta season upon us here are the much more important Otleys - the scores that audiences at Otley Film Society have given this season's films so far. A score of 80% represents an average score of 4 out of 5 on our sophisticated 'tear into a strip of paper' voting slip ... 😊😊😊😊😊

We have had a number of messages of concern so we would like to reassure OFS regulars that we will NOT be screening 'Melania'.

Mon dieu! There appears to be a strong Francophile presence in Otley. Our largest audience of the season - 99 - on a rainy cold night gave French coming-of-age cheese-making comedy drama 85% on the Otleyometer. Vingt Dieux! Back on 5th Feb with ‘Touch’. Our first Mystery film is ‘I Swear’ - on 19/3.

Our last film (Memoir of a snail) scored 88% on our audiencereactionometer. This follows scores of 95%, 95% and 80% for our first 3 films - A Complete Unknown, I'm Still Here, and Santosh respectively. A better start to the season than Leeds United I think.
