Some styles of dance don’t translate well to the ice. The highland steps join every riverdance program ever (“not (insert skater) program!” YES. ALL of them). You can’t translate the speed and the step to the glide in skates and it makes the rhythm feel off. In ALL of them. I will die on this hill.⛸️

Women’s free skate Skate Canada thread. 🧵⬇️⛸️ Missed the last three men and all of pairs, but here with my fingers crossed for a Japanese sweep (though I would not be mad if Isabeau or Lara snuck in there somewhere).

Men’s short program for now, might have to skip out on some eventually. Plus I’m annoyed after the rhythm dances (no one sabotages ice dance like the ice dance committee sabotages ice dance. Hate these one by one intros. ⬇️🧵⛸️

Well, the 90s theme remains unsaved. I really wanted more for Piper and Paul here. That felt really safe and reserved for what I was expecting. Good job, ice dance committee, picking such a dismal theme for an Olympic season. ⛸️

Just had two girls come trick-or-treating and one’s costume was just a balloon 6 around their neck, and the other’s was a balloon 7. Kids these days don’t even have good memes.

I lied, I’m catching a little pairs before the Halloween festivities start. I love available-Law and Digby’s 🇬🇧costumes, great colors. Super hate the music though. This is the wispy dreary pairs music that makes me watch pairs so infrequently.

October stack! Stuck with a spooky theme. Hard to pick a favorite. It might be The Haunting of William Thorn by Ben Alderson, but I’m conflicted about the ending (I still recommend it!). It’s either that though or Practical Potions and Premeditated Murder by Wren Jones. But I liked them all!

Going to miss all the Skate Canada happenings today because I’ll be in Halloween mode, so I’m glad there’s only two events today instead of all four. All day skating tomorrow though. 🎉

Just saw pics from Cup of China practices on Reddit, and this might be the first time Madi Chock has had a costume miss ever. That costume just doesn’t work for me at all.

My Halloween playlist, plus Frank Sinatra’s Witchcraft, which didn’t fit in the last pic. I feel like I’m probably missing some really obviously ones, but been happy with the overall mood. (Except I think I’ve decided I Fortuna doesn’t really fit, so that might go)
