what's getting me emotional is that for decades now USFS has been desperately chasing mainstream popularity and there's been so much discussion of How Do We Get People Interested in Figure Skating and the answer turned out to be joy 🥹

Finally sitting down to watch the Gala. I’m not generally a gala person unless I’m there to watch in person, they’re just either too silly and sloppy for me. But I’m wondering if/when I’ll ever get to see some of these skaters skate again. 😭⛸️

Switching from Olympic figure skating mode back into college gymnastics at an Utah meet. Currently watching the Utah mascot wrestle the Salt Lake Bees mascot on floor.

I can’t believe Olympic skating is over. 😭 And that so many people I hoped would podium did podium. 😃 And that now there’s no more skating until the end of March. 😩

I’m just so proud of the women’s podium and how different women’s skating feels from last quad entirely. Beijing made me almost quite watching skating entirely, and women’s was my 2nd least favorite discipline at the time. Lately it’s been my favorite. And Kaori has been such a big part of that.

Olympic women’s free skate! I really want Kaori to do well, I feel like she’s been the standard, not only in the quality of her skating but also in handling pressure, sportsmanship, & loving the sport without letting in control her. She’s the queen of the quad, & it won’t be the same without her.🧵⛸️⬇️

Have caught up on Alysa, Mone, and Kaori’s skates and am having a very emotional evening. Skating may taketh away, but skating also giveth. And those women were GIVING. And I straight up don’t know what this sport is going to do without Kaori Sakamoto. She’s is 95% of the reason I’m emotional.

GUTTED for Amber, but I’m glad she got the Axel and made the free. Love the top four! That dull MJ short with little jumps should NOT be as high as it is an it messes with the validity of the sport when these blatant shenanigans take place. Pls pls pls let those top four stay on course!

A quad without seeing Eteri Girl Style was so refreshing, and seeing it again now is like your sleep paralysis demon creeping up on you in the grocery store. Don’t like it.

YEP. A real vote of no-confidence from the Fed in their up and coming pairs team who has been doing quite well am was sent to warm tie spot basically knowing they’d never be sent. Not a good way to build a program.

Picture UCLA’s floor routines. The musicality, the dance, the passes, the energy. BYU’s floor routines are the exact opposite of all of that.

It took half the season, but the Red Rocks remembered how to do bars and it’s paying off.

I really need ice dance and pairs men to step up their costume game, because dressing in all black or a plain whit shirt when your partner looks *like that* is not beating the “stem and flower” allegations.

Woke up with La Boheme stuck in my head. Highlights for me yesterday were Jun, Kyrylo, and Yuma. Still gutted for Kao. And Shun.

The U.S. has three amazing women with medal potential skating in women’s event, and yet Xfinity’s commercial of the little girl in the tutu doing a ballerina program in her attic features her being inspired by Ilia. Just seems like a missed opportunity to highlight female athletes.
