A quick edit of the Peggy's Cove Lighthouse and the Milky Way tonight. Unfortunately, the spotlights from the nearby gift shop blew out the foreground, so I composited in a shorter exposure. Not the best work, but I'm too tired to do any better. 🥱 Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia October 2025.

For the bird nerds out there, we saw these two blue cranes (AKA the Stanley crane or paradise crane). They were spotted on the edge of the Etosha pan in Etosha National Park in Namibia, back in May, 2025. Recently about a third of Etosha park grassland has burned this fall in a wildfire. May, 2025

The shot of a lifetime. During my workshop trip to Katmai National Park this year, we saw that this bear would swing his head from side to side after catching a fish. When I got this shot, I got chills down my photographic spine. I knew I’d caught a good image. Katmai National Park August 2025

Wow. My Kodiak #1 for 2026 is now full. I've extended Kodiak #3 to have 5 days with 2 float plane trips AND a boat trip (same as #1). Kodiak #3 has only 2 openings left. All 6 are return customers. More information can be found on my website:

C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) is about 1 million miles (1.6 million km) away. Kristie Whittington instigated me to get out of bed at 4 this morning to meet up, and we were able to catch it at about 5:30am. From where we were, it was not visible by naked eye (magnitude 7.1 and light pollution).

I hiked to a quiet corner of the hoodoo area of Goblin Valley State Park. Getting back to the parking lot in complete darkness was a challenge. The hoodoo goblins barricaded any straight line progress toward the lot. I literally used the stars to keep my bearing to find my way. September 2025.

After what was a clear skies ALL DAY, we went to Balanced Rock in Arches National Park for Milky Way photos. Then the clouds moved in. Then car headlamps washed its headlights over the monolith. Thirdly, other photographers lit up Balanced Rock with headlamps. Not everything goes to plan.
