I learned Baduk from my Dad, became passionate about it through watching Hikaru no Go, then played in a club in college, then started a club when I moved back to the East Bay. Now I’m teaching kids to play in an afterschool program, and started showing them Hikaru no Go. Feels very full-circle!

My dream for Baduk is that I could bring a board and a folding table to any public park/roomy sidewalk, and get a game within an hour. What would that take? 1: Baduk becoming 20x more popular 2: cities investing in water fountains and public bathrooms, so people can spend time in public spaces

Why does it feel like my job is the hardest when there’s nothing for me to do?

I need to keep telling myself playing 9x9s on my phone will make me a better baduk player. Surely I’m retaining something and not just making the same mistakes over and over.

I can feel myself becoming bearish about the AI industry, it’s like waking up from a dream and realizing what you thought was a life-changing revelation isn’t actually that interesting.

I love Go but it’s such a doomed name for a board game SEO-wise, English speakers need to bite the bullet and switch to calling it baduk or weiqi.
