Sofia turned five on the day the war in Ukraine began. Since then, nearly half her childhood has been shaped by fear, disruption, and uncertainty. But, through a Child-Friendly Space run by World Vision’s local partners, Sofia has found a chance to just be a child again.

Our Programmes team recently travelled across the Democratic Republic of Congo to see the impact of our Irish Aid funded EMPOWER project. The trip was a powerful reminder of what’s possible when communities are supported with the tools, spaces and partnerships they need to thrive.

No girl should have to suffer Female Genital Mutilation. Mushame is courageously campaigning to help end #FGM for good. On the International Day of Zero Tolerance for FGM, we stand with girls like Mushame who are speaking out, challenging harmful practices and calling for change.

What does food insecurity have to do with education? Hungry children struggle to learn, attend school, and succeed. Access to nutritious food isn’t just about survival; it’s the foundation for educational success and opportunity.
