One of the earliest flowers showing up is common fiddleneck (Amsinckia menziesii), a tough native annual that thrives in sunny, disturbed soils. It’s an early bloomer in the Tough & Tenacious meadow mix, producing bright yellow clusters that are a favorite food source for early-season pollinators.

We had a great time at the recent Planting with Purpose event at Good Year Farms! 🌼🐝 It was inspiring to connect with STEM teachers from across the region and share ideas on how native plants and pollinators can be integrated into classroom learning and outdoor education.

What an incredible partnership with Friends of Trees in 2025 and 2026. Together we planted trees and planted or distributed hundreds of native pollinator plants across our community.

It’s almost mason bee season and we’re getting excited! In Clark County, we usually recommend putting your mason bee cocoons out around mid-March, but timing depends on weather and bloom conditions. We recently spent an entire day at Ridgefield High School teaching students all about mason bees! 🐝 From life cycles and nesting habits to why these native bees matter for healthy ecosystems, it was great to see students engaged, curious, and asking thoughtful questions.

We’re excited to host our very first Pollinators & Pints this Thursday, January 29, starting at 5:30 PM at Gray’s Restaurant! This is a casual, social get-together focused on building community and connecting with others who care about pollinators, native plants, and healthy landscapes.

Warm January days can be tricky for mason bees. We’ve started getting reports of male mason bees emerging early, and it’s simply too soon. Early emergence puts bees at risk. If possible, harvest cocoons and store them in the refrigerator until March, when blooms begin.
