Rummaging through my junk cupboard this afternoon yielded some really rather interesting finds......

Some classic plastic monopose Plague Marines from 1996 added to the retro 40k project. These were bought on eBay with a random miniature included that I converted to be armed with a flamer. Now the Aspiring Champion I painted last week has a squad to lead 🙂

When you go rummaging round various bits boxes like Indiana Jones looking for old 40k stuff, and find three old Necromunda gangs from 1996 instead 😃 I've worked on the Ratskins on and off for a few years but this is the first time all the miniatures have been together in a good few years.

Latest recruit to my retro 40k second edition project. Chief Librarian Tigerius picked up from eBay. Super happy to be able to get to paint this after 30 years 😃

Let the galaxy burn! I bought my first Abaddon the Despoiler miniature not long after it's release in 1996. Ebay provided my second and it was an absolute joy to paint as it was 29 years ago 😀

Of all the older 40k miniatures I've been painting recently, this is the one I've been dreading. A Space Marine apothecary......with white armour. I've never been great at painting white so I'm glad this all finished 😀

My 40k second edition Space Marine army now have a leader. I initially owned and painted my original copy back in 2000 and was super happy to pick one up in very good condition from eBay recently 😃

1995 me would be very jealous of 2025 me with what was delivered today. Back when we were skint students playing second edition 40k, we only had two copies of Dark Millennium between eight of us. After 30 years, I have my own copy. Mission accomplished 🙂

Oh the nostalgia. My old Rhino has a new lease of life. It's missing pieces and looks like it was built in the dark but I'm glad I restored it 🙂 This is part of a project to build a Space Marine army for games of 40k second edition. Ahh the memories.

Really into the grimdark skirmish game 1490 Doom and have kitbashed and painted my first Doom Company. The game tucks all my current wargaming boxes: Skirmish ✅ Low miniature count ✅ Small playing area ✅ Under 90 minutes to play ✅

I've never painted a pestilent diseased giant fly before.....but this has been yuckily enjoyable 😀

More basing like it's 1999. After another raid into bits boxes, I found quite a lot of old plastic Skaven bits and pieces 🐀 This will be a warband for games of Space Weirdos.

First goblin green base painted in many years! I found this Lord Skrolk miniature I originally painted in 2000 in a bits box last week. Repainted with a new goblin green base 😀 Warhammer nostalgia 🐀

Kitbashed sniper team for my ongoing Bolt Action German project. I actually built this many moons ago, put it on a ridiculously large base and it promptly disappeared into the box of abandoned stuff. New bases and updated paint job and they've returned to the fold 😊
