i am debating some changes about how i use social media. i may be quiet for a bit.

I'm really worn down at this point by the genre of person that refuses to have real conversations because they're trying to let their experience do the talking for them. I don't care how smart your background says you are. Talk to me like a fucking person.

chewed out a developer because apparently asking for simple UI guardrails to make sure people can tell the background from the usable buttons is "ruining the fun of experimentation"

anyways my ass is on that "drink caffeine but only once a day" kick and i am actually entering a nirvana of being not useless

i think my gut reaction to people going "people on twitter/socials say this about (piece of media)" is ultimately that it's irrelevant to the media itself. i don't mind talking about how people's opinions form, but i don't think it's a substitution for having an actual individual opinion on smth.

this is mostly for personal accountability but this year i decided that my relationship with marijuana had become addictive and toxic, and that as i turn 30, i wanted to enter the next phase of my life sober we're now up to a full month without any lapse, without any cravings, and i am hopeful

i think all my anxiety is in the feeling that i'm way off about other people's perception of me, and what qualities certain behaviors or aesthetics evoke. the thing is, maybe developing that intuition is harder than i think. maybe people are comfortable by setting more accessible self-image goals.

looking back on 2025....there's a lot of important things that happened. this was, to be honest, a really major year. the birth of my nephew, a major change to my job, one of the biggest breakthroughs in self growth i've had in a long time, but also discovering how major my current weaknesses are.

retrospect is also that some of my closest friends are not super active on social media, so it's an issue of "i have no incentive to use this bc my friends aren't here and that leaves people i'm not super gelling with" so it's having a couple more online friends that are a bit more of a fit.

don't mean to sound mad at anyone specific either. just that when you put someone in a part of your life that brings out their worst qualities, you do neither them nor yourself favors. i think i should be considerate of that more often and build a social profile that enables that worldview

2025 has been a year of becoming acutely aware of places where i can do more for myself, where i don't HAVE to make a stupid situation work, in part because i'm tired of creating forced social isolation. i think it's time i started refining my social media to be more about MUTUAL friends.

bro i gotta curate my timeline a little bit. some nice folks being followed, but also some people whose presence is massively overstated because they are CONSTANTLY posting, and i've started to realize it's making me feel distant from people i actually would hang around gonna probably start muting

i think maintaining motivation at work is challenging in part because even when i do the process as desired i still end up with tickets that go nowhere for reasons equally as disappointing as if i were to just forget to report the issue. like i just want better communication to be a team effort

I'm trying to not catastrophize but man sometimes it just feels bad. I have noticed it IS helping to treat that catastrophic mindset as a result of a real controllable decision, though - it helps underline it both as legitimate, preventable, and resolvable

my petty bitter take is that i am finding that after years of trying to gain experience to lead a program, and learning from some crucial failures, the people who i now have to report to as a subordinate have no interest in learning those lessons and simply displace the burden of growing to others

i have an overwhelming need to create things. i want to start finding that part of myself again.
