Been rather exhausted this week, but since I still had to play taxi unti late last night, I spent some of my wait time getting some writing done in a cafe. It's a short story I've been chipping at. Wordcount should be very modest compared to other pieces, but at least I am producing. #amwriting

'Stand By Me' was a movie our family had been meaning to watch for a long while, and 'lo and behold we got to see it in the best possible way tonight--in the theatre, for a short 40th aniversary run. When released, I was the age of the kids but this time, it's my kids who are the same age. Poignant.

I have some time off planned soon so I'm loading up my Kindle. Found some pulp sci-fi fantasy magazines and anthologies. I added more Hemingway,T.E.Lawrence, poetry from Yeats and a complete works of Poe--I even added Tom Sawyer. I have most of these in hardcopy but Kindle is so much more portable.

Phew! Over the hump. At this point now, I'm 400 pages into the edits and corrections of Kings of Kramwen, which means half of the book is "publishable" -- Now for the next 400 pages... #amwriting #amwritingfantasy #writingcommunity #booksky

At that spot in the morning where I should be using my 'quiet' time to edit, but I'm still not fully awake. I've drunk half a cup of coffee and the dilemma is whether I should start with only half a cup left, or finish the cup and make a fresh one before sitting down to work. *sigh* #writing #WIP

We did it, folks. Deep freeze is over. Temperature doesn't "feel like" -5° at all. It feels like... spring!

Feels like I didn't get much writing time this weekend, but I hit two milestones: My editor completed her run through my second draft manuscript for Kings of Kramwen; and inspiration hit, letting me tie together enough elements to draft 75% of the plot diagram for my third book. #amwritingfantasy

It's Saturday, and pasta-making day here at home. The dough is resting now. I want to make both fettuccine and ravioli, but first I need to come up with some Squid Game-esque challenge to determine which daughter to send out into the snow to pick up ricotta cheese at the grocery store.

It's one of those days when my version of contributing to society means pressing down the delete key after composing a post.

We're back... and in black. After writing about 600,000+ words in the Caphedra series (not to mention the 200k or so on the editing room floor), my failing keyboard has been replaced. Gone is the old grey and it's in with the black. No backlighting on this one... just darkness. #epicfantasy #writing

Finishing off the holidays having to type the letters 'C' and 'D' on a Bluetooth keyboard (or phone) because my laptop keyboard is on the fritz. I tried searching for AC/DC and ended up settling for ABBA. Not getting much fresh writing done to start the new year. #authorwoes

Well, there you have it. My first writing investment of 2026 will be to have the keyboard replaced on my 'not-so-old' Dell laptop. The 'C' an 'D' keys only work sparingly now and I'm forced to rely on the tiny Bluetooth keyboard I got for writing on my phone, whenever I need to type those letters.

I usually get home late in the evening so I'm not here to make supper, but with the holidays I have the whole day to cook. I made the Saturday night staple of molasses baked beans on the weekend, and today is clam and scallop chowder. Nice and nourishing fare for winter days. Tomorrow is turkey day.
