My pick for the most disappointing game I played this year easily belongs to Mortal Kombat 1. It sucks to say because while there are things I really enjoyed about it such as the invasions and the first half of it’s story mode, actually playing it normally or online left a lot to be desired.

I’m planning to read more books next year. That is going to be one of my bigger priorities for 2026.

Solo Leveling rules because it nails the power progression. Watching Jin-Woo go from weak to terrifying is satisfying, the action and animation sell his growth, and the darker tone keeps it from feeling hollow. One of the best Anime’s I’ve ever seen this decade.

I've noticed something. 3D controllers kind of suck for 2D games. This might be obvious to some, but I'm just figuring it out now. Having a 2D controller really is a must for 2D games for me now. How did I ever play NES games on a dual analogue setup?

Honestly I think that this is a key reason why Expedition 33 is so beloved by many as it takes these beloved elements people are used to from their favourite games and manages to adapt them perfectly and add their own spin to it.
