Those interested in getting a peek inside the home of Gothic writer Sheridan Le Fanu, might like to attend the Poetry Slamovision! on 20th May. Le Fanu was of Huguenot descent and lived and wrote his popular works in the house at Merrion Square during the 1800s.

At our AGM on 26th April, the lecture will be given by Cormac Chesser, and is entitled “The French Protestant Community in Dublin, c. 1680-1740”. The paper will be based on Dr Chesser’s doctoral thesis, and will discuss the community’s formation and the families that were central to the community.

This blue plaque marks the location of the French Church in Lisburn. Established by the refugees arriving in 1698, the community included members of the Crommelin family - central to the production of Linen. Their history lives on, so well worth a visit on a day like today.
