I can't keep it in any longer: The Butterfly Koi is coming out on paperback on October 6! And, because it's the logical thing to do with an author copy, I took this out on a walk. Look at how it prances and dances in the fall air.

Day 4 of sharing things I love about our book The Butterfly Koi (because I'm bad at marketing). Hatsumi has a vendetta and a potty mouth, but she still helps her mom with groceries every weekend.

Day 3 of sharing things I love about our book The Butterfly Koi (because I'm bad at marketing). Kenji is a chaos gremlin who once turned off a computer by pulling the wires directly out of the wall.

Day 2 of things I love about our book The Butterfly Koi. Eika has the best of intentions and the worst of family. She's also jealous her brother can skip events with the excuse that he doesn't want to buy a ticket for his cello.

In the classic author fashion, marketing is not my jam. So, instead, every day this month I'm sharing one thing I love about our book The Butterfly Koi. Misora is ambitious enough to metaphorically punch through steel. Her bestie jokes that getting back late from lunch might get someone kneecapped…

Apparently, sharing that you just asked the yard rabbit if he's "having a happy bunday" is a kind of one-hit destroy on the cheese scale.

Foreshadowing in real life is the worst - I just watched my baby kitty boy bat a bottle of fountain pen ink off the shelf and start playing with it. The bottle is plastic and I took it away immediately… the problem is THERE USED TO BE A SECOND BOTTLE OF INK THERE.

One sweet thing amid the awfulness right now is how wonderful the experience is of adopting a cat and feeling how his fur has gotten softer over the months due to being inside and eating good food. The concept of to be loved is to be changed in action.

You can tell that Taylor Swift released an album by all of the work happening in the rage-bait engagement farming mines across social media.

Sometimes we’re unsatisfied with a thing we made because when it only existed in our head, we saw all the things it could have been and when it’s done we know all the things that it isn’t, but we can’t see the way it expands into a million new things when someone else unpacks it in their head. 🖊️🦑

“AI wins not when it becomes more human, but when humans become more like AI: disengaged and devoid of original thought.” This hit me like a ton of corporeal, not copied, not stolen bricks.

What it sounds like when some tech dude tries to convince me that ethics aside, I’d love AI if if I just tried it: So, I broke into this old lady’s house and stole her tv. If you just try it out you’ll see how high def it is

Hi, welcome! If you’re curious who I am, I write angry speculative fiction about fighting to do good in the midst of capitalism twisting those intentions (free novel linked in bio) and sometimes make angry comics. I’d really rather there be less inspiration these days.

Do I think that the FAA cuts today caused the Delta plane to land upside down in Toronto? Of course not. But we should talk about them together because 1.) cutting desperately needed staff in the midst of these incidents is terrible planning, (1/2)

Tonight's CAN-USA matchup promises to be great hockey. But nothing happens in a vacuum, and the political context is fraught because the US has been threatening Canadian sovereignty. [are we the baddies dot gif] Keep booing fascism, Canada.

Even for people who (mistakenly) oppose these terms, there’s some kind of a phrase out there for this involving words like “baby” and “bathwater”.
