Today’s GC ruling on the Taxonomy sets a dangerous precedent. By upholding the COM's inclusion of nuclear + fossil gas as “sustainable” under the EU Taxonomy, the GC weakened EU's sustainable finance framework and opened the door to political manoeuvring via delegated acts. 1/5

📣It’s Time for an Entente-Cordiale between Environmental and Sustainable Energy Goals for the Decarbonisation of Europe EREF welcomes the launch of Fast & Fair Renewables & Grids to help collaboration between RE developers, energy communities, civil society and nature protection associations.

Today, the European Commission presented its Clean Industrial Deal, a strategy to unite the goals of decarbonisation and competitiveness, as well as an Action Plan on Affordable Energy. EREF welcomes the COM's efforts to build on the progress achieved under the Green Deal, Fitfor55 and REPowerEU.

Last Friday, EREF released its contribution to the Commission’s NZIA Implementing Act on Prequalification and Award Criteria for Renewable Energy Auctions. Minimising market entry barriers for European RE developers, especially SME, is key to advancing the deployment of renewables in Europe.

The EU must deliver a bolder, simpler, faster energy transition in 2025 & beyond. Today, the @EU_Commission unveiled its 2025 Work Programme. EREF welcomes its focus on renewables, competitiveness & energy security but calls for greater ambition. 1/4

EREF has submitted feedback on the Platform on Sustainable Finance’s Recommendations for the Climate Delegated Act, emphasising the need to uphold science-based criteria and regulatory consistency in the EU Taxonomy. Taxonomy must remain a valid tool to direct investments towards renewable energies.

Yesterday, the recent “Feasibility study of an EU Legislative Act banning new fossil fuel projects,” was presented in the European Parliament. EREF believes that studies like this will be crucial in enabling the green energy transition.
