Oxfordshire County Council's cabinet member for transport, Andrew Gant, has fired back at Oxford East MP Anneliese Dodds over the city’s temporary congestion charge. In a five-page open letter, the LibDem councillor calls Labour’s opposition to it “grotesque, upsetting and bizarre”.

Very friendly reception on the doorstep today. Met a number of non-natural Lib Dem supporters who are now considering lending me their vote in May. My commitment is to leave Bicester East much more improved at the end of my term than at the start of my term, just like last time.

Fab effort for those that turned out in -4 temp today for the Kingsmere Action Day 🥶 Great candidate, great team - Lib Dem’s winning in Bicester West 🔶

Patients and staff are being hit with a one billion bombshell of hospital car parking charges. This is an unfair tax on the sick and hard-working NHS staff and it has to stop. It cannot be right that nurses have to pay through the nose to go to work or that patients are subjected to sky-high fees.

The very last thing I did as a Conservative Party Councillor was sign up to the Liberal Democrat Party. In the last 4 years I like what I’ve seen and heard, the Lib Dem’s are a party committed to action, so I’m looking to come back to Bicester East and pick up where I left off.

Raised living in Hendon Place, raised my own family in Manston Close, went to both Glory Farm Primary and Cooper Secondary School’s, my paper round on Basset Avenue, Mum worked in Hart Place, learned to drive on Boston Road. It’s easy for me to get passionate about Bicester East.

When I was the local councillor for Bicester East last time round, a mobility scooter using resident of Duxford Close asked for a dropped kerb his side of the road to mirror the other side creating easier access for the bus stop. Delivered.

When growing up in Bicester East, there was this phone box outside Lysander Close, only used as either a public toilet or for vandalism practice. When I was the local councillor, I had a motion passed at CDC demanding BT tidy it up or remove it. Today the area looks much nicer.

When I was a teenager, if you were in with the bad lot you would head for the Lear Building on Launton Road. It was unsupervised with easy access and plenty of opportunity to vandalise without fear of getting caught along with plenty of drug paraphernalia scattered all over.

I enjoyed taking the opportunity to show Calum Miller MP the huge amounts of investment that got made into all of the Bicester East Ward play areas last time I was the local councillor. I look forward to doing much more of the same for East Ward if I am re-elected next year.

As the Launton Road retail park attracts more businesses and footfall, we need easier access for the residents of Glory Farm to be able to cross the road safely so I will be campaigning for the introduction of a zebra crossing if I am elected to Oxfordshire County Council.

Great canvass session in Bicester East this evening (although a bit soggy). Things that came up on the doorstep - parking in Buckingham Crescent needs a solution, it cannot go on being the free car park for Bicester North train station users.
