Yesterday we were introduced to Media Studies 🎬🎥 Instead of just watching a film right through, we paused, discussed and analysed it. We then completed some comprehension questions and really thought about hidden meanings of lyrics and scripts ⭐️⭐️⭐️

As part of Maths Week Scotland, we combined Technology, Art and Maths to create two separate pieces. The first an art piece inspired by Okuda San Miguel to create this colourful geometric art. The second piece was a poster about a famous mathematician which we worked on in pairs ➕➖➗🟰🧮

P6 and P2 teamed up today to complete a Lego challenge for @mathsweek.scot 🧱

We completed our sponsored walk today but not without a well deserved rest at the park along the way ☺️

Mrs Coyle gave us each a graphic novel to expose some of us to a new genre. We headed for the outdoor classroom and lots of giggles, reading and rolls down the hill later…. some of us realised we really like this kind of book 😊📚💥🦹🏽‍♀️

We continued with cricket this week and used all the new skills learnt from our inputs with Active Schools 🏏 We completed some practise throwing before moving onto a game!

There was a lot of excitement in class today as our persuasive posters were featured on the Circus Zyair Facebook page 🤡🎪

In IDL we went back to Circus Maximus and explored spectator events. We then worked in groups to construct models of chariots and raced them. The buzz in the classroom was fantastic and we were so encouraging and supportive of each other 😁😁😁

Today in maths we were deepening our understanding of decimal places. We worked as a class and then individually to create our own shopping lists and find our totals ➕➖🛒🛍️

Today we teamed up with P5 in Outdoor Learning to complete some leaf transfer art. We had a practise before creating a lovely leaf art card for someone special 😊🍁🍂

Today we used the reading skill of inference and applied it to our Health and Wellbeing lesson. We worked in pairs and used implied and stated information from our class novel to complete the Emotion Works cogs for the main character ⚙️ We then discussed and decided on our own regulation strategies.

We have been working very hard on our Vice Captain speeches over the last 2 days. Celebrating our skills and qualities, considering how they will impact our house if we were a Captain and thinking about the changes or introductions we would make 🔵🟢🟡🔴

Our first 2 weeks in P6 have been very busy with iPad day, personal choice for PE, team work and a book study! We’ve settled back into school life really well demonstrating maturity and determination! ⭐️⭐️⭐️

A huge thank you to our Laurieston family for the generous donations to the Falkirk Food Bank! Our Rota Kids have been working hard categorising and packing up everything before it made its way to the food bank. Developing our talking and listening skills through presentations linked to our IDL topic. This week we focused on the history of transportation and were shocked at the price difference between original cost and today’s cost! 🚗✈️🚎🚌🚝🏍️

Yesterday we explored the history of fashion and clothes. We analysed pictures, tried on clothes, examined books, watched videos about fast fashion and then sketched our own sustainable fashion pieces 👗🧣👖🧥👘

To finish our engineering project, we launched our rockets! We then measured the distance our rockets flew and found that even small air gaps impacted the distance travelled🚀🚀🚀

Excited to welcome in the Young STEM Leaders from Graeme High. So far this morning we have learnt about animal adaptations 🦴🐶🦷 #youngstemleaders

Today we combined measure and PE! We had to use different units of measure to find distances and times and then record these accurately using iPads 🏃🏃‍♀️ Newly appointed Sports Leaders did a great job of coaching their groups to be stretched and warmed up properly ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Yesterday we welcomed back Yorrick from YMI. We really impressed him with how much we remembered and how we applied our skills from last week. This week we learnt 2 quick note changes and how to play a song by Katy Perry 🐅🎼

We kicked off our new topic of ‘Through the Years’ with a huge discussion about whether or not hieroglyphics were art. We explained our thoughts with facts and personal opinions and then tried our hand at some ‘artwork’ 🖌️🎨

Today during our Child Led Learning we were tasked with making a pin wheel. We worked together, helped one another and we’re really encouraging during a really tricky task! We demonstrated great problem solving and engineering skills too! 👷‍♀️👷🧑‍💻👩‍💻

We took lots of pride in what we created during ‘imagination stations’ today! Mrs Coyle was very impressed with what we came up with! 😊⭐️
