On the last day of term, we enjoyed some sweet treats from Mrs Coyle and watched our Titanic News Reports! We had a great last day and it was such a nice way to wrap up our topic 😄

Last week we were lucky enough to welcome in Laurieston Bowling Club. They showed us set up, positioning and how to play different games. We really enjoyed ourselves and can’t wait to attend some more sessions at the club soon 😊👏🏻

During Art today, we used different materials to transfer a pencil line drawing onto a piece of card. We had to carefully follow several steps to be successful and we all achieved a fantastic outcome. We celebrated each others success and will add some addition information tomorrow 🎨🚢

Today we engaged in a ‘Spark imaginations in the classroom’ Puffin Virtual Visits lesson. Today we met author Rebecca Orwin who introduced us to her new book. We then mapped our our own imaginary character and discussed our ideas with one another 👹🧌🐉

Today in Numeracy we started our new Thematic maths topic and tested out a new way of working. We all had a non permanent vertical surface to work at and had to work as a small group to work out calculations, check answers and find any mistakes. We then fed back to Mrs Coyle as to how we found it.

Today in spelling we had to put communication first to complete our spelling tasks. First we had to work as a team to build a Spring spelling bank. Next we needed to peer assess our words and finally we created a singular and plural spelling table using the Pages app. Great team work!!!

Today in Literacy, we complete a trio of lessons. We started off discussing word types in Grammar, next we applied our knowledge to a piece of text during Listening and Talking and finally we edited our work during Spelling 🖌️📚⭐️

Today during Health and Well-being, we were developing our knowledge of consent. We engaged in some role play activities, discussed different scenarios and then transferred our learning into an art piece ☺️

This morning we engaged in a live lesson with author @sharnajackson.com 📚. We loved her interest in gaming, street art and murder mystery stories. We couldn’t believe she liked the game Among Us! It was fascinating to hear the different ways to plan a piece of writing ✍️

Today was a very rare occasion we were all in, so we had to take a wee memory picture 😊📸

Today we were in the hot seat taking on workers from the Titanic. We could ask yes or no questions to work out what job role we each had. Ahead of this, we had researched different job roles and found out information including wages, tasks and colleague numbers.

There was so much excitement yesterday when we tested out our boats during STEM with Miss Wood. The aim was to get as many stationery items on our boats for the longest time without it sinking ⛵️🛟

We explored different habitats during Outdoor Learning, researching what that particular environment is like and who lives there. We then presented our findings to the rest of the class.

We really enjoyed multi sports with Miss Wood on Friday! We like getting to try lots of different sports during one PE lesson 🏀⚽️🏉

Today we continued our Narrative writing focus. The theme today was landing on a new planet and we linked all our senses to our writing to produce some fantastic pieces 👽🚀☄️🪐

Today in Drama we performed different Scots poems. We demonstrated fantastic group work and creativity as we had to think up all the actions with only direction from our group 🎭🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Consolidating our learning by thinking about examples of fractions, decimals and percentages in every day life 😁

Today we continued exploring the genre of narrative writing ✍️ First we had to analyse a short clip and separate it into Orientation, Complication and Resolution. We edited our work as we went ⭐️ Next we were given different images and had to discuss potential complications which may occur 👏🏻

Today we started our new topic of the Titanic. We completed a carousel task and noted down any questions we had about the pictures. We engaged in relevant discussion and really enjoyed the lesson 😊

We had a great time at our Christmas Party on Friday!! 🎅🏽🎄🎉🥳

Today we started our new Thematic Maths topic of Christmas. We were tasked with creating a 3D Santa’s workshop and even included actual working present chutes!! 🎅🏻🎁

For Scottish Book Week P6 wrote a short story on friendship. Today the finished version appeared in our library 📚

S was the paparazzi during our Literacy lesson yesterday ✏️ First Mrs Coyle demonstrated a craft and we had to take notes, next we had to use our notes to remake the craft and edit our notes accordingly and finally we had to transfer everything into a piece of instructional writing ⭐️

Over the last 3 weeks we have been learning circus skills and putting a routine together. Friday was performance day and wow did we perform!! Applause and cheers could be heard from our peers and we were all so proud of ourselves 🤡🎪🤹

Bonjour, today in French 🇫🇷 we were working on greetings. First we recapped different phrases, next with practised with our peers and finally we created a WhatsApp message to a friend in French 🇫🇷 More resources have been uploaded to Teams for home learning 😊

On Friday we completed some Tim Burton inspired art. We focused on sketching and shading to produce these impressive pieces 🎨

P6 were given a piece of paper and half an instruction at each step. They then had to work together to create some Halloween craft. The level of problem solving and communication demonstrated was fantastic and everyone produced a pumpkin! Well done P6 🎃🎃🎃

Today we got crafty with some odd socks to make these sock pumpkins 🎃 We had to cut, stuff, shape, tie and glue! They make the perfect Halloween decoration 😁👏🏻

‘Today we were constructing 3D shapes to recap on our knowledge of measurement. I really enjoyed it because it was 3D and it was really cool. I made 2!’ A was our paparazzi today 📸

This week we are working on creating a class word bank of different autumnal words. We really enjoyed working together on different spellings and coming up with wow words. We then took part in an autumn story challenge and shared our stories with our peers 🍁🍂🎃👻

Yesterday we were introduced to Media Studies 🎬🎥 Instead of just watching a film right through, we paused, discussed and analysed it. We then completed some comprehension questions and really thought about hidden meanings of lyrics and scripts ⭐️⭐️⭐️

As part of Maths Week Scotland, we combined Technology, Art and Maths to create two separate pieces. The first an art piece inspired by Okuda San Miguel to create this colourful geometric art. The second piece was a poster about a famous mathematician which we worked on in pairs ➕➖➗🟰🧮

P6 and P2 teamed up today to complete a Lego challenge for @mathsweek.scot 🧱

We completed our sponsored walk today but not without a well deserved rest at the park along the way ☺️

Mrs Coyle gave us each a graphic novel to expose some of us to a new genre. We headed for the outdoor classroom and lots of giggles, reading and rolls down the hill later…. some of us realised we really like this kind of book 😊📚💥🦹🏽‍♀️

We continued with cricket this week and used all the new skills learnt from our inputs with Active Schools 🏏 We completed some practise throwing before moving onto a game!

There was a lot of excitement in class today as our persuasive posters were featured on the Circus Zyair Facebook page 🤡🎪

In IDL we went back to Circus Maximus and explored spectator events. We then worked in groups to construct models of chariots and raced them. The buzz in the classroom was fantastic and we were so encouraging and supportive of each other 😁😁😁
