I guess we're in "email your representatives" season. Sigh. Fun fact - NC was the 3rd largest recipient of NIH funding in 2023 after CA and NY. Sneaking in ahead of PA. NIH funding brings so many jobs to NC and supported $5.34b in economic activity.

New from my rockstar grad student, Mags McAllister, who took SSC data and collated items across measures to create an echolalia "composite." Take home - echolalia is highly prevalent, and varies over the course of development. (Mags did this all in her 1st year of grad school. She's one to watch!)

As with everything with my career, my grant journey has been unconventional. Started with an R01, then R21, now an R03.

R01 sent to OSR. I haven't led an R01 application since our current R01 (now in Y4). I miss nice 6 pagers! I also do not recommend writing any grant over an election cycle (though 2020 ended better).

The new(ish) read loud voice on Word is giving my R01 life. It sounds like a riveting rom-com audiobook
