So yesterday a friend got me a ticket to see Dream Theater! The show lasted 3 hours and they played 2 songs total.

Just came into the realization that instead of using “horizontal” transition segments for music it might be better to use “vertical”. Instead of “adding” a transition bar, it might be more natural to replace the ending of the current one.

Soooo an update of the Music things I’m doing with #Unity. I can fill this SO with different song sections clips. Then all the info (Bpm, Time Sig, Length and Section Name) gets parsed from the audio file saving tons of time of manual input that is prone to errors. 😌 #VGM #GameAudio #IndieDev

I’ve been doing some music thingies with Unity’s native audio. This little script allows composers to STOP CUTTING LOOPS. Just set the tempo and duration in Bars or Beats and drag/drop the audio file. Works with odd time sig. and time sig. changes. #gameaudio #indiedev #vgm #unity #gamecomposer

Quick update: Song sections can also be selected/triggered right away or quantized to the nearest bar AND after that still pickup the automatic looping/scheduling logic. I’m just a guy and his trigger pipe (?) against odd time signatures. #UE5 #GameAudio #IndieDev #VGM

Ok chat now it works with odd time signature changes and pre rolls! In this example I’m just calling Play and it randomly selects a music loop, loops it N times and instantly triggers the next one one it’s done (keeping the reverb tails ofc). #UE5 #GameAudio #VGM #IndieDev #GameDev

Ok so this is finally working? Kinda? A metasound that randomizes song sections, loops them each “N” times and automatically triggers the next one. Works with different time sig, transitions AND pre-rolls. Also no need to cut loops for the reverb tails and trigger stingers in any subdivision.

So a lot of what us audio people do is not only to play sounds to what the player sees in game but also to the *spooky voice on* UNSEEN. Here "there are no birds" but I'm firing up a bird-cry and bird-flap sfx when the bot collides with the tree, simulating birds flying away #Indiedev #sounddesign

Just prototyped a thing in #Unreal. For every particle I'm spawning a metasound that plays a single note in an array. Nothing new there but the cool part is that the array is selected based on the chord of the moment and that way it "plays" the changes. #VGM #indiedev
