Thereâs a good chance most folks outside of Wisconsin had not heard of Minocqua Brewing Company prior to the past week or so.
That is quickly changing because the brewery has put itself right in the middle of controversy with a promise on Facebook on January 22.
That promise?
âFree beer, all day long, the day he dies,â the brewery wrote. âShow us this post when it happens in a few months and weâll make good on that promise.â
The brewery added an update, âwe meant the Madison Taproom because thatâs open all year, if he dies in the summer, then itâs gonna be the Minocqua Taproom.â
Donald Trump wasnât specifically named in the post, but the brewery has plenty of anti-ICE posts on its page. Its followers seemed to think it was Trump, and in a response to Fox Newsâ attempt to question them about it, the brewery made it clear who was being referenced.
âApparently Fox News wants to interview us about our upcoming âcelebration of lifeâ party, in which we promised free beer for the whole day when he finally dies,â a post on the breweryâs Facebook page wrote.
Minocqua then shared its response to Foxâs Lindsay Kornick.
âIf youâd like to come to our party celebrating the impending death of a twice-impeached convicted felon covering up for the largest child sex ring in the history of the United States â someone who has enabled his contemporary American Gestapo to brutally murder two American protesters in a matter of weeks, then weâll invite you and any Fox News colleagues of yours on one condition âŠ. No red hats allowed. Give your bosses at Faux News my best. Kirk Bangstad, Owner, Minocqua Brewing Company.â
On Jan. 28, the brewery shared a Fox News article about its free beer promise on Facebook and offered another response.
âWho knew that Faux News would still write this story after we went viral mocking them in response to their cynical request for a quote about our âcelebration of lifeâ free beer party the MOMENT he dies,â the post read. âItâs amazing how out-of-touch they are thinking that theyâd hurt us by publishing this story. The world and most of America will be celebrating as hard or harder than us when this day happens, and they still figure their shrinking audience of manipulatable deplorables, who we already refuse to serve, would find our gallows humor appalling. Thanks Fox, youâve done wonders for our sales in the last few days. Keep covering this story and weâll be able to pour that much more free beer when his blood clot finally moves.â
And on Thursday the brewery continued trolling Trumpâs followers, even announcing that it had â200 Trump voodoo dolls made.â
The brewery then tagged Fox News, Blaze Media, and the New York Post and also called out âall the other right-wing ânewsâ outlets who covered our âCelebration of Lifeâ party and subsequently introduced us to thousands of new customers around the globe, we welcome your next story about how weâve embraced the ancient Voodoo religion to âGET THE JOB DONE ALREADY!â
âSurely the easily-manipulated deplorables in your audience believe that Voodoo actually works, and will demand that eagle-eyed Kash Patel put us on his FBI watchlist, because itâs clear that Catholic/West African-inspired spiritual prayers are a threat to the regime,â the breweryâs post added. âThanks for your help, âBondye,â the pins weâre sticking into this doll suggest that weâve gotta stop writing and start making a ton more beer for our party.â
The brewery had plenty of followers posting supportive messages to its posts, and it shared screen shots of many who did not appreciate the move at all.
âThis is the level of humor and pettiness Iâm here for!â one person replied.
âYep, 3rd post from yâall thatâs come up and Iâm sold,â another replied. âFollowing you and willing to find a reason to visit the brewery as soon as I can! Itâs a 35 hr drive though, so weâll see how soon.â
According to Fox News the brewery is largely known for âspecialty-branded beers based on political trends and figures such as âResistance Pilsnerâ and âTammy Shandy,â after Wisconsin Sen. Tammy Baldwin.
That has obviously changed.
