Man, my summer is about to end. This weekend is new student orientation and I begin teaching again on Monday. It's the EXCEL program, a four-week, intensive program for kids who need a little boost to be ready for LSMSA. I'm looking forward to it, but it's also an end to my free time. Let's do it.

I guess it's time I share my philosophy on science, not that anyone has clamored for it. Science dies without skepticism. The unexamined experiment is indistinguishable from wild speculation and, if emotional beings weren't doing the science, harsh critique would be welcomed, necessitated.

There's a science YouTuber (chemistry, specifically) that I used to follow because they made excellent informational videos. Lately, though, they've transitioned into takedown videos and, honestly, they're kind of hard to watch now.

When I was in graduate school, the many-headed hydra of research scared me into inaction. There was no way I could do all these things. I'm 48 now and I've learned how to only attack the heads I can. There's no way I could do all these things, and that's okay.

There's something filthily comforting about instant ramen. No added bits, just a cup of instant noodles and all the salt I need for a week.

And those that know the difference can really make some beautiful comics.
