I joined TVCCA for a ride-along with their Meals on Wheels Program. The amazing Sheryl Degler, a 10-year volunteer driver, took me on her delivery route in Norwich. TVCCA has seen rising demand for its meal deliveries to seniors and the disabled.

Eastern Connecticut needs more quality and affordable homes to meet demand and lower costs. I met with the Home Builders and Remodelers of CT to discuss the work ahead to increase our region’s housing supply.

Trump’s taxpayer funded slush fund goes against our country’s foundational principle: no one is above the law. I’m fighting to ensure this slush fund never sees the light of day.

The Trump Administration’s last-second decision to cancel the deployment of 4,000 troops to Poland sends a horrible message to our NATO allies in Eastern Europe, especially countries like Poland who have stepped up their own defense investments.   Our allies and our adversaries are paying attention.

It was a pleasure to catch up my friend, the former Australian Ambassador to the United States, Joe Hockey. Ambassador Hockey has worked for years to strengthen the U.S.-Australia alliance, and we discussed the exciting path ahead for the alliance under AUKUS.

Great News. A new $1.495 million grant will fund taxiway drainage improvements at the Groton-New London Airport. The airport has heightened value with the sharp increase in employment in Groton.

AUKUS is a new, ambitious security agreement between the U.S. and our closest allies - Australia and the UK. Yesterday, US Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Daryl Caudle emphatically endorsed its value to our Navy and friends.

In honor of National Police Week, I cosponsored a resolution to memorialize law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty, including Sergeant Frank Linehan of the New London Police Department.

I grilled Sec. Linda McMahon on the Department of Education's new rule that excludes nursing from a list of "professional" degrees.

Good news for submarine construction. Electric Boat has been awarded a new $2.3B contract for pre-construction of Virginia-class submarines. This is another emphatic positive statement on the priority of the Virginia program.

Last week, I cosponsored the “No Funds for War in Iran Act,” which would prohibit the use of additional taxpayer funding for military operations against Iran without Congressional authorization. (1/2)

Inflation has risen to its highest level in three years because of the Iran war. Americans are paying the cost for the President’s war of choice. I’ve voted twice to end this war. It’s past time for Congress to reassert its constitutional authority over war powers.

Bringing locally grown foods to school meals benefits our entire community. Today, I visited EASTCONN’s Bridges Community School in Columbia, which serves students with autism and other low-incidence disabilities.

Square A Farm in Lebanon has a long history of conservation efforts. I visited the multi-generation family dairy farm this week to discuss their investments made through partnerships with the USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. I’m grateful for the dedicated mental health providers across eastern Connecticut who work every day to support individuals and families in our communities.

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week. I am grateful to the teachers across eastern Connecticut who work tirelessly for their students. Thank you for shaping the next generation!

Yesterday in Norwich, I joined Governor Lamont for the opening of Connecticut’s second Opportunity Center, a single destination where people can access a full range of services like Medicaid, SNAP, and LIHEAP. Stopped by Mini Melts in Norwich with new CEO Ilana Fischer, a Waterford native. The ice cream company has 80 employees in Norwich and can produce 300 ICE CREAM cups per minute, which are sold nationwide, including at the Mystic Aquarium and the National Zoo in Washington, DC. (1/2)
