Never thought I'd think of trees as friends. It's been a great 31 year relationship. I've never regretted planting a tree. I've brought home around 120 of them. Good friends.

The lower garden is filling in. A wonderful place to sit and listen to books.

Feels more like the first of June in the garden. June first 1936..., in Germany.

And part of the lower garden. 32 years of tree growing with constant soil enhancement with compost, hardwood chips and leaf mold. In the beginning was very little top soil and hard packed blue clay and glacial till. Thanks ice age.

The garden is well into spring.
