Listened to Dissection - The Somberlain. Was a little hit and miss for me. Some solid death metal parts but a bit too many acoustic/atmospheric parts, and a Spanish guitar solo??

Listening to Hypocrisy - Penetralia. Another great death metal album from 1991. Some great guitar solos on top of the usual buzzsaw sound.

Listening to Amon Amarth - Berserker on a wet and windy walk today. Perfect storm music. Some hardcore style guitar riffs and breaks add a nice change of pace to this album.

Listened to God Macabre - The Winterlong. This had a lot more atmospheric sounds than your regular early 90s Swedish Death Metal album.

Second album today was Unleashed - Shadows in The Deep. The 2nd album from the Swedish powerhouse adds some extra metal riffs to their excellent debut album.

Out for a while on my walk today. First album I listened to was Paganizer - Born To Be Buried Alive. Some nice atmospheric parts on this album amongst the chainsaw guitars and growling vocals.

Watching Violent Night (2022). Die Hard with Santa. Some nods to Die Hard 2, a joke about someone getting a Die Hard DVD. Santa is a viking berserker covered in Nordic tattoos. Some gruesome deaths, especially John Leguizamo. Beverly D'Angelo is nothing like Ellen Griswold in this.

Started the morning off with Entombed - Clandestine Live recorded November 2016 for the 25th Anniversary of the album. I have to admit that I prefer Robert Andersson's vocals on this album to the hardcore style vocals they used from Wolverine Blues onwards.

Listened to Ribspreader - Crawl and Slither (2019) whilst trying to catch up with some jobs. Down tuned guitars and thundering chords grinding away. Another death metal masterclass from Rogga Johansson.

Paganizer just released the first single from their upcoming album As Mankind Rots. The track, titled Aftermath Bleeder, is another piece of Rogga Johannson lore. Chunky, powerful guitars, gore vocals and plenty of double bass drums. The album releases January 30th.

Blasted through Unleashed - Where No Life Dwellls whilst sewing on my new patch. This album makes a lot of people's Top 5 Swedish Death metal albums lists, and I can fully understand why. Chainsaw guitars, strong vocals, and it doesn't let up for one second.

Starting the day off with another vintage album from 1988. Nihilist - Carnal Leftovers. Brutal death metal, from before there was officially such a name, from the band that spawned into Entombed/Entombed AD.

Back to the beginning of the 90s for tonight's music. Carnage - Dark Recollections. One of the front runners of Swedish Death Metal, split up and became Dismember before the album was officially released. Absolutely amazing album.

Listened to Wolverine Blues by Entombed. Not my favourite Entombed album. Vocally more NY hardcore with a mix of rock and metal guitar work. Kind of going for the American metal sound, like Pantera.

Amon Amarth are touring Europe in October 2026. Got the chance of pre-release tickets. £61.50 plus fees. So, I'm looking at £130 for two tickets plus overnight stay as it's the other side of the country. No way I can afford to go, gutted. Not knocking the band as I know it's expensive to tour

Listening to Imperishable - Swallowing The World whilst sewing my jacket, the rain is too heavy for walking today. Great melodic Swedish death metal with some heavier US style metalcore riffs thrown in.
