BTW tonight’s Super Moon photos were taken from Petit Jean Stat Park, #Arkansas where Mrs 59 is tonight. It’s 30-40 miles north of Hot Springs National Park and is the oldest SP in the state. #ParkChat

Q8 #ParkChat Some of those autumn scents are due to the decay of fallen leaves and other organic matter. Fungi are nature’s recycling centers, and abound in autumn. What kinds of interesting fungi have you found in your autumn wanderings? (Of note: many fungi fluoresce in UV light!)

Q5 #ParkChat Trees aren’t the only kind of plant to go dormant in autumn. Prairie grasses go golden, often with tiny purple or yellow flowers. Have you seen a late autumn grassland before? How did it compare to fall tree foliage?

Q3 #ParkChat The drop in temperature causes deciduous trees to shed their leaves in autumn. When the green pigment in those leaves breaks down, we see the vibrant colors of other pigments present. What is your favorite color of fall? Any reason why?
