Drawn from observation. I have several sites where I find groups of 8+ Eurasian Woodcock doing this lek-like courtship behaviour in Jan-Feb. I don't know anyone else finding this so here is an illustration of their behaviour to accompany a short note that is getting sent for publication.

I discovered this in an old folio. Never exhibited, but I really like how it conveys the saurian quality of the Cormorant and her chicks. Watercolour and gouache on tinted canson pastel paper. I remember this was painted outside all I'm one day on the Aberdeenshire coast. What do you think?

From a customer "The painting arrived this afternoon it's beautiful we love it. Unfortunately the courier used dropped it over a 6ft locked gate instead of delivery to the house. The painting was undamaged only the packaging had a few holes in it. Once again thank you it's absolutely beautiful"
