Above all, love. Yesterday, DC showed the world what that looks like — thousands standing strong, loud, and peaceful. So proud of everyone who made their voices heard with courage and respect.🇺🇸☮️

How’s your summer going?

Eastern Market has stood the test of time — a cornerstone of DC life for over 150 years, where generations of DC have come to shop, connect, and celebrate community. We, too, will continue to stand the test of time!

Monuments rise, and so do we — DC strong.🇺🇸

I spoke with members of the National Guard this weekend. Some are (teachers) missing the first week of school, others, time with their families and jobs. Between assignments, they spend their days absorbing our monument history, picking up trash and posing for photos

The lens of history is wide open. These streets, these voices, these faces — together we are writing the story of our democracy.

Behind the stars and stripes are real lives. We live here, we raise families here — DC deserves freedom, not a federal takeover.

Where the wild things buzz 🌻🐝 Sunflowers are blooming at McKee Beshers Wildlife Management Area. It’s always too hot, there are too many bugs (especially mosquitoes), wear boots (for snakes) and a ladder is always helpful. Doesn’t that sound like fun?

When life gets melty, lean into it—preferably with ice cream in a waffle cone. Yala Greek Ice Cream opens tomorrow and it’s already bringing the cool vibes this hot summer needed. The timing feels perfect. Are you with me?🍦💙

Wildflowers has always felt like a quiet anthem to me. These days, it reminds me that even in the mess, we still get to grow wild and true. We still get to claim our space, our voice, our freedom.

The colors may be familiar, but the moment is not. With everything going on—from the courtroom to the Capitol—we don’t get to look away. The flag’s still there, but it’s up to us to make sure it stands for something real.

Tea at the Willard is a big deal in Washington—people regularly clamor for reservations—so come here when you feel like dressing up. It's served in the ornate Peacock Alley, which is decorated in pastel blues and filled with chandeliers and palms, to the sounds of a live harpist.

The Jefferson Memorial went through years of rehab cleaning of its dome, and with this year‘s blossoms, you can really see a difference.🍃🌸🍃

Just like that, PEAK BL🌸🌸M came and went—cherry blossom season at the Tidal Basin was a fleeting beauty this year. The rollercoaster of warm days, sudden chills, wind, and rain had its own plans, and sometimes, that’s just how it goes.

Let justice bloom as boldly as hope. 🌸✨

Once the picture-perfect magnolia, always captured from its best angle. But years of rough weather have thinned its blooms. Still, it stands—strong, steady, and scarred. A quiet testament to holding on, even when everything feels a little more weathered. 🌸

Stopped by the Tidal Basin yesterday—while we’re not at full bloom just yet, I found a spot that was nothing short of lovely. 🌸 But as the trees wait for more blossoms to join them, so too does this country need more of us to show up—to protect the roots of the democracy we love. 💙🇺🇸
