I'm really thankful for Stranger Things; it captured the essence of the 80s in such a legendary way. I won't lie and say I found the finale brilliant, rather the last hour felt like a formulaic and maudlin farewell to a self-aware franchise. But man, there were so many fun moments along the way.

If you're loving Stranger Things S5 that's great, but for me it's flirting with Game of Thrones territory in terms of final seasons. Way too many characters and monologues, a steady stream of awe that feels... hollow. I still hold onto hope that they'll somehow stick the landing in the finale. 🤞

Kiddos really enjoyed their electric scooters eventually — but not without drama. Stepdaughter took a nasty tumble on her first try, even briefly fainted when she saw the scrapes on her hand. But with enough time and gentle coaxing she tried again. So, so proud of them both.

This is pretty close to the Christmas Eves from my childhood. A quiet hush, gifts lined up against the tree, an atmosphere of excitement, and a dog snoozing on the floor after exhausting himself from all the commotion. I'll never take this for granted.

How I'm "walking" out of 2025.

Another fascinating food-related chat with my wife. Just told her my family had hot dogs and sauerkraut on New Year's Day, got a strange look. Apparently this wasn't really a thing on the West Coast. Also, how's it possible that I liked sauerkraut but couldn't stand cole slaw or "pigs in a blanket"?

The NFL streaming situation is absurd and liable to get worse year after year. On the plus side, I tapped into a Canadian stream and some of the commercials are intriguing. Apparently the 6-7 nonsense is a thing up there too.

I really, really hate to say this but I agree with the critics who say Stranger Things has gone astray. They're trying too hard to keep everything cranked to 11 the whole time and it's missing the charm of earlier seasons. Vecna storylines are too convoluted. I hope they redeem this with the finale.
