Saw Wicked a second time. It’s been a while since I’ve been moved to see a movie a second time in theaters.

Wanted to do more of this sort of theme park/pop culture journalism through comics but then the pandemic happened. Oh well! 1/5

Just saw Wicked. Went in cold, never seeing the musical, only knowing the basic story, the two big songs and… Wow. Also wasn’t expecting the undertones (overtones really?) of fascism. It hit right in the damn gut in this current political climate.

Sees a tv ad for
healthcare.gov
. Bold of you to assume we’ll still have the ACA in a year. Sees a tv ad for instant mac and cheese. Bold of you to assume we’ll still have a functioning society in a year.

The (mostly) funny answer: It’s the only thing I know how to do. The (more) serious answer: To feel human and try to come to terms with what it means to be one.

Was at a Catholic wedding today. Nice big cathedral. HUGE. First thought after walking in (once I realized my heathen skin wasn’t burning off) was “Wow, imagine how many schools they could have built and staffed instead. How many homeless folks they could have fed and housed? HMMMM.”

Sometimes I think social media was a mistake, man. We should go back to a time where if you wanted to put your dumb opinions online you had to know at least basic html to update your Angelfire or Geocities page.

One of fascism's main tactics is to physically and mentally exhaust you. To flood the zone with outrageous bullshit, to make you bite on a dozen pump-fakes — so that when the real shot comes, you're too worn out to react. We need to pace ourselves. It's only been a week. Alert fatigue is dangerous

Okay…thinking BlueSky will be where I go when I wanna feel happy and normal (as much as you can these days). Threads (I’m ghostcarpress over there) will be where I go when I wanna feel sad, hopeless, and need to vent about our new political hellscape.

Between Threads and Bluesky, I think this place feels better? It almost has the same feeling as Twitter circa 2012? Sucks to have to rebuild my community, but such is life.

Done with twitter and all the Nazis who took it over. So have we decided which is the new twitter? This or threads? (I’m honestly too old/tired to learn a new social media)
