Resisting Erasure
Recently, students in a new Department of History course "LGBTQ Lives and Archives" worked with the Kingston LGBTQ2S+ Collection at Queen's University Archives. Their efforts were highlighted in an article in the Queen's Journal. The students have each taken on a mini-history project to explore, and summaries of their findings have been posted on our Instagram page.

Black History at Queen’s University Archives
February is Black Histories and Futures Month, an opportunity for us to reflect on the experiences and acknowledge the accomplishments of our Black community members. It is important to note that teaching and learning about Black History, in addition to recognizing Black Communities, is not constrained to the month of February. This can be done throughout the year. Here are some resources available by Queen’s University Archives to learn more about Black History in the Kingston Region and at Queen’s University.

Queen’s Remembers
Every year on November 11, Canadians pause in a silent moment of remembrance for the men and women who have served and continue to serve our country during times of war, conflict and peace. Remembrance Day honours those who fought for Canada in the First World War (1914-1918), the Second World War (1939-1945), and the Korean War (1950-1953), as well as those who have served since then.

A Weekend to Remember…Queen’s Homecoming 2025
Queen's fans at a football game . V28 Stud-74 Queen’s University Homecoming can strike both joy and fear into the hearts of Kingstonians, but the nearly 100-year-old celebration is still going strong. The first Queen’s University Homecoming occurred in 1926 and attracted 870 alumni from the classes of 1874 to 1926.[i] The tradition most attendees look forward to is the Tricolour Guard Halftime Parade.

43rd Annual Archives Lecture
The Queen’s University Archives Annual Archives Lecture began in 1983 with a presentation on The Monk Gibbon Papers by Dr. Norman H. MacKenzie. Since then, the lecture has highlighted the archival collections which are held by the University and has served as a public forum to disseminate and discuss the research that is, or has been, carried out using those collections.
