Here are pictures of my glass Pueo owl mosaic before and after lightly being (tack) fused together. This makes all the tiny glass shards into one solid piece and keeps the detail better than full fusing. #glassart #stained glass #islandart

Finishing up a small owl, glass mosaic. I will tack fuse it together (the only grout is clear glass frit). It has plenty of personality and will look great as a suncatcher. Used the native pueo markings, they have cool dark lines around the eyes. #glassart #mosaic

Took a casting class where you carve bullseye vermiculite board to make a mold for glass. Behold my mighty green glass doughnut. A important thing with casting colored glass is a little bit of color goes a long way #glassart #glass #Casting

More people need to know about the Pazyryk Swan, 2400 years old, from the Siberian horse-riding pastoral people. It is felted, c30cm. Because of the permafrost burials so much amazing felt, appliqué, embroidery and textile art has survived. But I just love that a stuffie has survived ❤️

Dredging of Pohoiki boat ramp has been underway for the past two weeks, as crews work to remove 42,000 cubic yards of black sand, rocks and boulders, deposited by the 2018 eruption of Kīlauea.

I took a class teaching a technique where copper wire is used as an inclusion. It’s always great to learn new techniques. There is room for innovation in glass and I love trying new things with the material to see what happens. #glassart

An unusual dichroic glass cabochon. The green colored layer crawled up onto the glass above it creating what looks like a green skin around an eye. Messing around with repeated firings can yield interesting results. #glassart

A large air plant blooming in the yard. The actual flowers are small but come from that cool pink bract. The plant looks like a small shrub you can pick up and move around the yard because its an air plant, no roots. #houseplants

For Friday a cast glass tiki head I made pre pandemic. I love glass casting and it’s because you can make crazy and beautiful stuff like this. This guy has been on fire and it will burn strong for a long while. #glassart #tiki

Terrifying philosophical thought of the day. In life if you ever look around and everything is darkness it’s important to realize at that point, in that moment you ARE the light. /And that is where people are at their finest, when they are shining light into dark places. Helping one another.

Jaboticaba fruit getting ripe in the garden. They taste similar to (good) grapes. They make excellent Jelly and can be eaten fresh but have a thick skin. As the tree grows its yield increases, bears fruit about 3 times a year.

Both pictures are of the same piece at different stages. The complete piece on the right came out well but also got darker which is a shame. it is not uncommon for dicro glass to color shift with repeated firing. I always like a good experiment #glassart #glass
