My scrunkly little old man is gone. He was having heart problems and made it very clear that he was ready to go. He had health issues all of his life but managed to make it to 2 years and 9 months. RIP you grouchy boy.

It's really rough having so many older rats all at once. Last night we found Marnie had passed in her sleep. She was a rescue who never learned to trust people, but I'll miss seeing those hopeful little boba eyes begging for treats.

The oldest ratties got some quiet time away from the young, hyper rats to (very carefully) climb the rat tree and eat a lot of snacks. Arlene is 2 years and 8 months old, has a lipoma, and is very blind. But she still zoomed around and climbed very high.

I don't know how this is comfortable for either of them but ok. #petrats

Haven't been posting much since some of the rats have been having health issues (mainly age related, one sudden and unexpected) and I was focusing on their care. But sadly we lost Ratchitt today. My baby rat. The first baby born to our rattery. I'm absolutely devastated

All of the ratties got mini pancakes to celebrate the lucky litter's first birthday. Most snatched them and ran. #petrats

The lucky litter is now 1 year old! Can't believe they were ever these tiny, fluffy beans (no way I could get them to sit quietly in a pile for pictures now). Planning to make them a little cake later and hopefully get a picture of more than a blur once they get their crazy little hands on it.

Kritch! When we went to meet and pick out babies, this little guy sat on my husband's shoulder and refused to move or let anyone touch him. He still won't let anyone but him pick him up! He came from a "good" breeder but has had endless health issues and is not part of our breeding line.

Ratchitt! My heart rat and the first born to the rattery. He was the only baby Queek and Arlene had. He's now a father of 7 and loves his boys so much. He's old and having age/past injury related issues but is overall doing great.

Arlene, the other start of the rattery. She's the healthiest rat I've ever known, and has never had a single health issue in her nearly 3 years. She did weirdly have a single, giant baby (Ratchitt) but also helped raise her grandbabies. She can be a bossy little thing but loves everyone.

This handsome boy was Queek Headtaker, the start of the rattery. He was the friendliest, most loving creature I've ever known. He lived a nice long life with his family and helped care for many rescued rats.

Since everyone liked Boone so much, I figured I should move my rat account here too. Many pictures of Boone and his siblings coming soon!
