On a local Triangle Land Conservancy trail, someone (middle school kids?) set up a “Rhetorical Devices” route with signs along the way explicating things like “allusion”, “parallelism”, “understatement”, “hyperbole”, etc. Most charming thing I’ve seen all week.

This story got under my skin so much I had to rant to the spouse about it during our morning walk. Will people begin to doubt that the cause of scurvy is understood too? What’s next?

I spend a lot of time thinking about how the internet has broken our brains and making myself feel better by reading about something absolutely depressing by ProPublica or Scalawag or Bitter Southerner.
