Despite what it might look like, this female Orange-Tip butterfly's raised abdomen is a "no thanks" signal to the male butterflies. She's already mated and has an egg - it's the small orange shape under one of the leaves.

These photos taken over a couple of evenings about a month ago, showing Kingfishers courting and mating on the River Kelvin in Glasgow. Hopefully they've continued with the breeding cycle but they've been less visible (seen less often) recently so i'm not sure. Good luck to them anyway! #birds

The adult male Peregrine at Glasgow City Chambers. Shortly after this was taken on Sunday, two of four eggs in the nest box had hatched. One egg did not and will not hatch now. Of the three live chicks that did hatch, one has unfortunately died but the other two are alive and feeding well. #birds

The Dippers didn't seem keen on me watching at first, but they soon went back to collecting and washing moss to use to line their nest. A couple of weeks ago at Linn Park in Glasgow. #birds

The locks on the Forth and Clyde canal at Maryhill in Glasgow are closed and partly drained to allow for repair work. That work is being overseen by a suitably qualified Heron who does a proper shift but also fits in some fishing during breaks. #birds
