Walked Ben Chonzie today. Not much to see because of the weather but Spotted Flycatcher, Redpoll, Siskin and Mountain Hare showed. The stand-out was the raptors along the the B827 road from Braco to Comrie. Dozens of birds of prey: Red Kites, Buzzards, Kestrels, and what might have been a Merlin.

I didn't actually know this when I posted a pic of a gosling yesterday but one of the Canada young at Bingham's Pond in Glasgow has survived. May even be the same one. Its now nearly as big as its parents and is sporting its very own chinstrap. 'Mon the cobra chickens. #birds

Yesterday I was watching an Otter - it didn't want to appear on camera - on the River Clyde in Glasgow when a Kingfisher appeared. A juvenile: the feet darker than the adult's bright orange. Tempting to wonder if its one of the two that fledged about six miles away on the Kelvin last weekend. #birds

On a lunchtime walk a few days ago I found this scene by the Cart in Glasgow. Fox mum was trying to groom her two cubs but the cubs just wanted to play their game, which mostly involved running about and biting each other on the backside.

The Kelvin cuts a deep gorge through west end Glasgow, up to 60ft below road level. Makes for dramatic vistas with high bridges, towering churches, tall sandstone tenements and trees including Redwoods. Some light even gets through to where the wildlife is. #birds

I can't go and look for myself this weekend but i'm hearing that our Kingfishers on the River Kelvin in Glasgow have at least one, probably two, fledglings out and about. They'll likely get chased off by the adults within a few days. This pic of the adult male is from Monday of this week. #birds
