New woke Star Trek dropping in less than 7 hours, thank you for the early build Blizzard now I can get some sleep and be up when it releases.

They are in the process of hooking up music this build, none of it has been shipped yet (and not everything has been assigned yet), but maybe we'll get it next build. Also, Arcantina/HS Tavern has 7 tracks. Very exciting, can't wait to hear them.

They may not be the colors we wanted, but they are probably the colors we deserve.

Seeing some of the, uh, "discourse" around the Classic downtime and am once again reminded kindness and literacy (including understanding jokes/sarcasm) are at an all-time low. This is why gamedevs don't communicate with the public in this manner anymore and any that do are an exception, dammit.

That said, I hope the experimental team continue cooking. Orlando Salvatore (Plunderstorm, MoP Remix) and Josh Miller (MoP/Legion Remix) both left, and I have no idea how big the team is to figure out if that's a big deal or not. I hope that secret gamemode we've seen some hints of isn't scrapped.🤫🙏

Not going to be able to 100% Legion Remix, but that's okay. Can't have FOMO murder the fun, it was a blast and a great excuse to get a whole bunch of max level characters on Horde. Hope some of the lessons from it can make their way into other content too and maybe even a Remix in the future.

Good TV-related news ICYMI: - The writers room (with many old writers) for the new Stargate show is starting work tomorrow. - Star Trek: Academy premieres on the 15th, early reviews are largely positive (woke trek returns, get owned). - The Pitt got renewed for Season 3 (Season 2 started last week).

Slept about 12 hours, maybe 14 total, yesterday. Felt refreshed and I think maybe even cured, then caught up on all the (largely bad) news and it is 4AM again and my heart is restless. No clue how to escape it or tune out without losing access to valuable or work-related news/social connections.

Did a quick model naming pass. My favorite 3 new models: UVMapMan, UVMapDog and UVMapBird*. (*unofficial names, silliness applies)

Update on this. I have automatic tagging working for FileType, M2Size, ModelFeature and EncryptionStatus tags. I need to add a proper UI for filtering by them in WTL, but here is a sample search for "large" models that have physics bones AKA "tag:modelfeature=physics,tag:m2size=large".

Okay, the cold finally did me in, woke up with a sore throat and a cough. All the snow still makes it worth it, though!

Started work on one of the projects I wanted to tackle this year. Instead of a list of filenames, a list of tags for files might work better for some usecases (more @ blog.marlam.in/reflection-2...). I've started up a repo (github.com/wowdev/wow-f...) as well as a UI in WTL for managing the tags.

Don't remember the last time I spent over 8 hours sleeping or with this high of a sleep score. Went to bed at 8 because I couldn't be bothered reading or hearing any more about the current state of the world. Woke up just now around 5. 8h23m of sleep. Wow. Logging this one for the history books.

~8k steps later and I managed to take a webcam selfie. Also went and visited mom's grave even though the cemetery wasn't open yet because it was still dark (don't tell anyone), but her grave monument looked awesome in the snow. Everyone who was also out for a walk said goodmorning too. What a day.

I feel like this snuck in with 11.2.7, I would not be surprised if it is tied to the various shader changes to backport some of the Midnight terrain changes and stuff into TWW, but our shader diffing isn't good enough to spot/figure out this kinda stuff yet. Maybe one day.

Is it me or is an increasing amount of PC/web stuff just broken these days? Windows has more issues for me than ever, my most commonly used websites have issues, etc. etc. Unsure if just enshittification or indicative of something else, but it's making a real case for open-source & self-hosting.

My PC might have issues with the cold. It has this new quirk of only booting partially after logging on. Only a few things start, then it gets in a state where nothing else does, not even task manager, but things that have already started are okay. Nothing in event log other than a service time out.

Dutch charity event Serious Request put on by public radio station 3FM has raised 18.4m Euro to fight muscle disease in children (you might remember Duchenne for example, the disease Mats/Ibelin had), a new record for the yearly event that has been going since 2004. Very proud of our little country.

Note that the unchecking "Community Sites and Apps" checkbox in the Battle.net Account settings does hide your house (and all your other data), so that is a short-term solution if you don't mind any other sites/armory losing access to data.

One thing that surprised me a little when we messed with this is that it exposes and effectively allows the export of all houses. There was some discussion about it overnight after the launch of Wowhead's tool made it easily accessible for users too, which I think is a good discussion to have.

While working on my own roadmap for the 2025 reflection post, I am curious if we're getting another WoW roadmap soon. Maybe even a separate roadmap for player housing? Too optimistic? Probably.

I may be playing for the other team technically, but Wowhead just launched a pretty awesome tool that is basically just player housing in your browser. Great work by @zeeee.bsky.social, @eror.us, @raefwolfe.bsky.social and the rest of the @wowhead.com team!
