I have basically nothing scheduled until the last week of July, but I still feel like I'm about to hit a boiling point. I've been doing what is needed for work, what's been needed for community projects and relaxing inbetween, but I can't shake the feeling of impending doom. Stuff still feels off.

The SpaceX IPO prospectus is actually super interesting to read. I love how big of a risk AI and Musk are described as. Also goes deep into their future plans. This is selfish, but (I think) AI has caused a big drop in people asking me for help with code, datamining or asking for new features/bugfixes in tools I work on. Now people just ask AI. That work I really enjoyed doing, but I also can't blame them, it is, unfortunately, faster and more reliable. 😔

Minari on the WOWKEA Discord is encountering a pretty strange and fascinating bug with player housing. They are on a Mac and made a grid of aligned Goldshire windows, which look fine for them and their friend on Mac, but players on Windows PCs are seeing unaligned windows. Wonder what causes this?

These people out for my Minecraft account are still doing their best trying to convince me to join their fake Discord and likely go through some onboarding login stealer thing. Yes, I read all of your mails and yes I can see the e-mail tracking embedded in them. Keep trying, it is very amusing.

Something interesting in naming models so far, there's a lot more blockout models in Midnight than I thought there were. It's unfortunate we don't have any real Midnight dev maps or super early housing maps. Maybe one day.

Going to be dedicating today to doing mind-numbing stuff that's been piling up, both IRL and digitally, starting with a pass on naming still unnamed WMOs before 12.1 increases that backlog even more. So. Much. Unused. Housing. Stuff.

TwitchCon day 2 was a fail, made it halfway the journey but had to go back. Slept 10 hours last night and not in a good way, so the day started off bad, was hoping it would improve but unfortunately that wasn't the case. Day 1 was cool, but the challenge largely failed. Also, no Minecraft cape. :(

Okay, so, I made it to TwitchCon (and sat next to someone I ended up knowing on the train, but only by name so we find out just before we got out 😅). Lasted around an hour and a half in the venue before I got too overwhelmed and my health issues started playing up bad. Managed to do 2 of my 3 goals:

TwitchCon day 0 done. Took the train there, got my badge and wristband and got the hell back on a train home because it is hot as hell and I'm already borderline overheating as it is. Hopefully tomorrow's weather is better.

Those VFX shots at the end of the season finale of #ForAllMankind were gorgeous. Great season overall, very The Expanse coded. Time to check out #StarCity!

Looks like the WoW mount I made for s&box still works on newer versions. Ironically, even though I've since gotten modern WMO shaders working in both DX11/OpenGL, I still don't know how to hook it up in s&box. Their policy on mounting non-Steam games is also still unclear (possibly intentionally).

The Wowhead layoffs over the last few months seem to have culminated in last week's removal of pretty much everyone that made it what it is. I might work for a competitor, but this hurts the whole community and is not a good sign for where the industry is going. Hope everyone lands on their feet. 🖖

Being as open as I am has backfired twice this month. I don't know if that is life teaching me a lesson to not trust strangers, but I'm going to hold off posting that personal blog post for now. I truly hope both me and the world change enough to where I don't feel anxious about posting it.

Slowly catching up on stuff, a recent MoP Classic build had a fun texture that looks like concept art for a the staff that was added. Might have been leftover as a texture reference on the model and accidentally pulled in. Here it is next to the model (which also has cool fx I didn't include).

12.1 just got a little more interesting! (Other branches regularly pick up stuff like this from future Retail patches, especially those close to going on PTR like 12.1 is.)

I use Spotify to get through various things that regularly require music for me to cope, but that safety net is now gone as they've taken a clear stance against art. Very unfortunate as I've been subscribed since 2012 and it's helped me discover a lot of artists I wouldn't have otherwise. Sucks.

Remarkably Bright Creatures has been on my watchlist for a bit simply because Colm Meaney is in it, but wow, what a gem of a movie. Cried several times. Definitely recommended if you need a wholesome feel good movie (and want to see what Chief O'Brien has been up to).

I feel like I'm closer than ever in figuring out some big life stuff, not only because the internal pressure to figure it out has been going up, but also because I've been talking about it more with various people. Wrote up a 2k words blog post about it, but don't have the courage to publish it yet.

Collected all my energy and focus to go shopping real quick (was out of meds, food and drinks...), went fine but got too relaxed at home and almost poured orange juice into my cereal. Maybe I'm not back to normal just yet. 😀

Woke up early and did some productive things while I could, was about to go back to bed but the painters rang the doorbell to paint the door frame so door needed to stay open to dry, I set it up in a way where I could still sleep, but I think the draft/fumes boosted the flu symptoms, so that sucks.

1h30m of sleep. Blasting headache, nasty cough, probably a fever and body is definitely operating on emergency power, but time to get the day started. These chores (mostly) won't do themselves. Will reward myself by ordering some sandwiches and then going to bed again for the entire afternoon.

No clue if this is a common thing, but when I'm sick/on an extremely broken sleep schedule and do many consecutive naps they are always very vivid dreams and different each nap. Am also concious enough to go "nah we're not doing this one" then turning to the other side and rerolling the dream.

Still taking it easy but I took a few hours to sit down and (calmly, with chill music) knock out one of the things that's been a hurdle on my todo list for a bit. Happy to have done something productive, now to disappear into bed until like tomorrow evening.

It's been very quiet these past few days. Very appreciated while I get rid of the flu, even today's PTR build was tiny. It is becoming pretty clear with the very little WoW news we've been seeing that CMs are busy. Maybe a Warcraft Direct for 12.1/Classic+ is in the cards for the next few weeks? 🤔

Having the flu, sleeping on and off for most of the day, then staying up waiting for a PTR build that wasn't happening today and now making dinner at 5AM while half falling asleep because I am in great need of food is not doing wonders for my sleep schedule.

Even though its leadership and their choices were terrible, I do agree here. It is a setback for all creatives involved as well as WoW UGC in general. That said, I do think it and other projects have learned Blizzard a few lessons, ones I hope they don't forget as they tackle C+ and UGC beyond it.

Project Hail Mary was great. A lot of heart and beautiful visuals. I prefer the (audio)book, but not at any fault of the movie. They made a lot of sacrifices/left out a lot of detail for timing/pacing, which is understandable. That said, the new bits they added were great. 👎👎👎 #ProjectHailMary

Decided to take it easy for a few days and now I have the flu, so the plans of going on walks and chilling with the fam more are now out of the window. Guess it's time to get some D4 time in on the SteamDeck.

12.0.5/12.0.7 are strange. Lots of internal changes, many not directly explainable by what we know is coming. Feels like we've been seeing a larger disconnect between the client, which is largely shared between all WoW branches, and the actual content. Very curious to see some changes explained.

Rough day, but pushing on and choosing to believe in the good of humanity/the world and my place in it. I am recognizing that I need to make some changes, something I've repeatedly said before, but the slightest thing can throw me off completely for a good period of time and that's not healthy.

Having attacked it from a few angles, I'm not sure Blizz will be doing full import/export strings for size/parsing/security/more reasons. They could store data on the server and return short strings that point to it, but that would need x-region support (and hopefully a web API for external tools).

If you are stuck in the vicious circle of always doing things faster/better than you did before, remember to take a step back every now and then since it is easy to get lost in that. There's a balance in everything and today's world is increasingly incompatible with that balance.

In-between the late night life-changing thoughts I've been refactoring the viewer project a bit to split off any shared code so it can target both DX11 and OpenGL. Accidentally broke into another dimension doing so. Pay attention while refactoring, kids.

Already seeing some "if Classic+ gets x thing, Retail better get it too" before it is even announced. Stop it. Let us not set those kind of expectations for ourselves or Blizzard. Having to consider Retail when creating Classic+ stuff sounds like an absolute nightmare and a huge creative limitation.

The rumored Classic+ summit happened at Blizz HQ today, I'm assuming we'll see an announcement pretty soon, maybe even in the next couple weeks. Any last minute guesses as to Classic+'s content format?

Other than a +50 exterior decor limit bump at level 5 & 7 (so with a total of +100 we're now up to 350 exterior budget cap), they also updated the light distances a bit more this build allowing for things to be a bit closer together as well as having clearer radius bubbles.

Slept for a 1.5 hours, giving up for now, brain is all over the place the last few weeks. Workers starting on the apartment building in a bit over an hour so might as well try and be productive until the moment they stop working this afternoon and then crash.

Had to pay so much taxes that the bank didn't trust my phone to confirm the transaction so I had to find worlds oldest USB cable in a box of cables to charge the old hardware verification thing. Been a while since I had to do that.
