Here’s some WIP shots of my “layout”, if you can even call it that at this stage. The big void in the loop is likely going to become the yard and the bridges are stand ins until I can kitbash some pretty truss bridges. (Plus a fluff picture of one of the new SD45’s) #hoscale

Just showed up in the mail: two Athearn RTR SD45's! NP had 30 of these so they will be a welcome addition to the future layout. Next big purchase is probably gonna be a three pack of U25C's from Korea Brass to test against my Rivarossi model. #hoscale

Fun fact: on their 100th anniversary in 1964, the Northern Pacific Railway celebrated by commissioning a 40 minute long opera about their many achievements, which they called "A Thousand Miles of Mountains". Here's a brief selection from it! It's a fun listen.

I really strongly dislike all forms of AI, but the one that's drawing the most ire right now (to me) is AI music. Trying to find any kind of music from a sound library or from any royalty free place now is borderline impossible because literally everything made after ~2024 is AI generated (🧵)

Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving! I spent it with some new friends and had a great time. I'm still plugging away at my stories and hope to have something out by New Years, but until then, have this holiday greeting from Ike and Vivian.

The RSX-4 was one of the last projects made by ALCO-GE as a partnership. It was made in response to a US Army road locomotive design bid; as with most ALCO-GE locomotives of this era, the electrical equipment and rotating gear were sourced by GE and assembly and fabrication was done by ALCO. (1/3 🧵)

Behold the often misunderstood RSX-4. Contrary to popular belief, these aren’t actually MRS-1’s; that name belongs to the EMD of similar design. They’re also ALCO built, but the military contract was through GE and thus these were considered GEs. Confused yet? I’ll have more info as I post more WIPs
