Recent reports say ~60K feds have signed up for the buyout, but how does that compare to normal years? OPM stats say that in recent years, we average around 105k retirements and 210K separations/resignations a year. In 2023, from Jan to Sept (the scope of this buyout, in theory) it was 141K.
