The package that St. Louis is asking for Robert Thomas, I’d rather go to LA and see if Byfield could be had. His 6’5” 230 lbs on the wing is what we need with Suzuki and Caufield. At 23 and under contract for $6.25 million per for the next 3 years after this season it addresses a size/skill need.

I feel with the warmer weather that spring could be soon…but I also know that’s not true.

Call me crazy, but if the Habs could get Robert Thomas at the cost they think helps them, they’d make the deal as he fits timeline, the top 6 and age/cap they would want to have there. You have to give to get. They’d ask for Kapanen 100%, probably add Newhook or Dach plus pick/prospect.

Leafs won’t trade Matthews and Nylander at the deadline but they would be smart to retool and trade them this summer. Matthews turns 29 and has 2 years at $13 million and Nylander turns 30 with 4 years and $11.5 million per. These are guys that are going to help win elsewhere. It would be a haul.
