There won’t be relief at night either when heat stress builds. By 9 am ET Monday, the heat index was already in the upper 90s to 105ºF from Chicago to New York City and D.C. Some Eastern cities may challenge all-time June record highs and the number of consecutive 100-degree days for June.

A heat wave is affecting the eastern United States, pushing power grids to their limits and creating hazardous conditions for outdoor workers. High temperatures are forecast to reach the upper 90s to above 100°F, with humidity pushing heat index values of 105°F-115°F.

High heat and severe weather, including risks such as 2" hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes, are bearing down on the central US power grid. The Midwest is facing multi-day storms and heat indices of 110°F or higher, spiking demand and straining infrastructure.

🌡️ Pakistan is facing potentially historic heat this week and may break its April temperature record of 50°C (122°F), set in Nawabshah, Sindh Province, in 2018.   For much of April, temperatures have been running about 4°C above average across Pakistan and Northwestern India.

Elevated fire weather conditions are affecting parts of New Mexico and West Texas. Dry fuels, gusty winds, and low humidity can combine to fuel fast-moving hazards, with winds exceeding 20 mph and relative humidity below 10%.
