It is so hard to stop this when it spreads. I am Gordon, not Gord, but I can’t unfollow clients. I used to have a senior colleague who created his own nicknames for everyone, seemingly as a control mechanism.

Sunday dinner first time experiments. Braised Pork Shoulder with Tomatoes, Cinnamon and Olives and Creamy Leek Gratin with Parmesan. There are leeks in the pork as well. Both proved very popular.

Books read and listened to October 2025. An unusually long list. Some @backlisted.bsky.social as always. I am really enjoying On the Calculation of Volume. Empty Vessel is fascinating if you are interested in economics and the effects of globalization.

Sunday reading, Sunday listening and current audiobook. I am amazed how many new ways to deal with the time dilemmas have appeared in Vol 2. The audiobook is also a good choice. I am not yet decided on clarinet Goldberg Variations. Looking forward to attending @backlisted.bsky.social live tomorrow.

Someday the cranes and scaffolding will come down.

Finished in less than 24 hours. This has immediately moved to the top of the list to be my favourite book of the year.

The unexpected benefits of having young adult children with you on a holiday weekend. Your day can begin with a breakfast taco made entirely without your input.

Having now watched this, I am convinced it was the inspiration for the lighthouse episode of The Goodies.

Books read or listened to September 2025. Work and business travel seem to have wiped out reading time. Also, a rare case of no @backlisted.bsky.social books, although the Daphne Du Maurier and Caroline Crampton are clearly adjacent.

Sunday reading, Sunday listening and current audiobook. The book is a fascinating look at Japan in the late 1950s. The audiobook is my favourite work of non-fiction so far this year. I would never have expected to be so engrossed by the history of a barge.

Not on Letterboxed, but last four watched.

I second this. An unusual choice of book which is now a must read.

What a distance between last night and tonight. From the ridiculous to the sublime. Frankenstein is superb.
