I had the privilege last week to present my poster at the International Autism Congress Conference in Dublin - what a wonderful experience! Thoughts in a thread, because I have a LOT #AEC2025

This is maybe the worst part about being an educator in the AI era. AI companies are *stealing your time* by making you work around it/find it/adjudicate it. Time that, 4 years ago, you would have used to improve your materials, or stay up-to-date on some area of research.

Busy week for the lab! It was an interesting experience hearing from clinicians and other researchers about the problems surrounding eating disorder research. I ended the day feeling hopeful and full of energy of the potential that we could achieve together💪

Earlier this week, I presented at the 4th York Psychology PGR Conference! A super proud moment to showcase my participants' experiences and where I aim to go next with it all. Well done to everyone who presented on the day - poster or talk! 👏

Super proud to announce that earlier this month I achieved Associate Fellow HEA status! 🥳 It was a great opportunity to develop my reflexive writing and determine my own pedagogical approach. I highly recommend any PGR, ECR, or anyone else starting their teaching journey to get involved!

We advocated and modelled for our inclusive and co-production practices, situating marginalised voices at the forefront of knowledge. It was great to hear the great work being done in clinical settings locally - looking forward to seeing where it all goes within the Learning Disability community

A lovely positive boost finding out during neurodiversity celebration week that my paper with @drlornaham.bsky.social and Dr Jonathan Vincent was a top-cited paper last year 🥳

One way the mainstream "over" (or "under") diagnosis discourse is misleading is the assumption there is some natural, correct number of neurodivergent people. But there is no natural number, as disability is relationally, materially, and socially produced.

Late to the party due to forgetting BlueSky exists but! I'm super proud of this piece and look forward to taking this train of thought further in the future TL;DR of it: BMI should be used with careful and specifc consideration, nuance, and contextual acknowledgement #BMI

To make it worse, she's also transphobic (see her Twitter) so cite somebody else 🙏

Fully engaging with reflexivity and positionality in Qual for my first study has highlighted their holistic importance for me as a researcher - looking forward to reading this paper for further guidance

Had fun visiting a local sixth form with Ellen Lavender to talk about all things psychology and uni! 🧠 Favourite question was "what do you think about the concept of free will?"😅

Some interesting considerations that I'll definitely be considering in any future studies that use online aspects - easy to assume that only quantitative studies would be affected but new ChatGPT-esque AI can now pose a problem to qualitative studies too
