The elephant in the room here is that the U.S. spends too much on its military. The sheer firepower gives presidents the impression that we can do virtually anything. We always have military options. We need to have fewer.

Are there any states that truly never check IDs at the polls? All three states I’ve lived in: Illinois, Massachusetts, and Michigan are listed as “no ID” states. But I have always been asked for ID at the polls. I guess people without ID can sign an affidavit. But I rarely see people do that.
