I met with community members in Durango because of their concerns about the recent actions by ICE in their community. We covered the role of ICE, their legal authority, the protections and rights of immigrants, how to protest safely, and the authority of local law enforcement and state prosecutors.

It is great to be back in La Plata County. Given some of the recent incidents here with ICE, I led an important discussion about the role of ICE, legal protections for immigrants, First Amendment rights of protestors, and local law enforcement’s authority in these situations.

When it comes to the Attorney General, courtroom experience matters. I fell in love with the rule of law through 28 years in the courtroom, holding violent offenders accountable, protecting victims, and keeping communities safe.

After 28 years in court, this isn’t a phase. It’s experience.

January 6 was a violent assault on our democracy and the rule of law. As Attorney General, my responsibility is clear: defend the Constitution, enforce the law without fear or favor, and hold accountable anyone who threatens our democratic system.

One of the most meaningful parts of this work is meeting people from communities across Colorado and hearing directly about what matters most to them. Those perspectives shape how I approach this work and the responsibility of serving the entire state.

Prosecuting violent crime, handling complex cases, and upholding the rule of law is serious work. I have spent my career across Colorado handling the most serious cases our system faces. Colorado deserves an attorney general with courtroom experience and a proven record of enforcing the law.

Honored to have served as the keynote speaker for El Comité de Longmont’s 45th Anniversary Celebration. Immigrants are not just part of our community; they are a part of this country’s past, present, and future. As Colorado’s next AG, I will continue to stand up for the rights of all Coloradans.

The holiday season is upon us! Great to see so many friends (and donated toys!) at the annual Tebo family holiday party. Congressman Joe Neguse and Governor Jared Polis provided wonderful remarks. Much thanks to the Tebo family for bringing people together!

Former Boulder County Commissioner Deb Gardner has spent years strengthening our communities and supporting public service that puts people first. Former Boulder County Commissioner. I am grateful for her endorsement and for her long record of leadership in Boulder County.

The U.S. Department of Justice has requested access to Colorado’s voter registration data, including information that is not public. As Attorney General, I will defend Colorado against unlawful federal overreach, protect voter privacy, and maintain the integrity of the state’s election systems.

Looking back at Pride reminds me why this work matters. Equal protection under the law is not seasonal. Pride is one month. Upholding equal rights is the work of the entire year.

December is upon us. My top priority is building a better future for all and that can only happen if people can afford to live here. I promise to fight for consumer protections, workers’ rights, and every Coloradan living in our beautiful state.

Cyber Monday brings great deals, but it also brings a spike in scams. From phishing links to fake retailer sites, it is important to be careful when shopping online.  As Attorney General, I will work to protect consumers and hold scammers accountable.

For decades, Howard Chou has been a driving force in Democratic organizing in Colorado, helping elect leaders up and down the ballot and building the groundwork for lasting progress. I am honored to have his endorsement as we work to uphold the rule of law.

Colorado is grieving the loss of a mom, friend, colleague, and dedicated leader. Senator Faith Winter spent her career standing up for Colorado families and her legacy will live on.

🚨The federal suspension of SNAP payments created a nationwide food security crisis. That’s why I joined an amicus brief urging the courts to restore full benefits communities who rely on this support. When the federal government threatens to harm Coloradans, I will always fight for our state.

Throwback Thursday to when I was a student at Cornell University. I did not know it then, but those years would lead me toward a career focused on public safety, fairness, and service to our communities.

In recognition of National Restorative Justice Week, I want Coloradans to know I will continue that work statewide. Restorative justice plays a meaningful role in healing harm, supporting victims, and improving outcomes for our communities.

Grateful for the chance to sit down together and talk about the stakes in our justice system. ICE now receives more federal funding than any other federal law enforcement agency, and much of it goes to private, for-profit prisons. Private prisons should be outlawed entirely

For nearly three decades, my work has been in the courtroom and in public service, leading reforms, protecting victims, and strengthening the integrity of our justice system. These programs did not come from theory. They came from my experience.

Today, on Veterans Day, we thank and honor all those who have served this great country. My Uncle and Godfather, Vincent J. Dougherty, was an Army veteran who served during the Cuban Missile Crisis and Vietnam War era. We lost him last year; may he Rest In Peace.
