Annnd it’s gone. Central Park snow depth today was 0”. In a week we went from 19.7” to zero. In our 1st storm(of 11”), snow stayed on the ground for more than three weeks.

Cold facts: This winter ranked in the 74th percentile for cold (meaning it was colder than 74% of all other winters in the record). 3rd coldest in the past 30 years. Big change from recent winters. 7 of the 10 warmest winters have come since 2000.

Winter is over ! Today is the 1st day of meteorological spring! In the science world, the seasons are based on months and not the ritual of the solstice and equinoxes. Spring is March, April and May.

After several days of blizzard coverage, I finally got time to spend with my guy, Pumpkin!

25% of Sunday-Monday's snow is already gone. Snowfall at Central Park was 19". Today's snow depth at Central Park was 14". Still lots of snow and slush to navigate on streets and sidewalks.

Life update: Reinforcements have arrived. Pre-and post blizzard. Same snow pile different car.

Storm update: Greatest snow for NYC since 2016. Conditions improve by early afternoon.

Dangerous conditions happening now, especially in coastal locations. Wind damage and power outages are happening. Winds will improve after 10am.

This is a shut down event. Biggest snow in 5 years for NYC region. 1st blizzard warning for NYC in 8 years. Won't be too bad Sunday until after dark. Snow drifts of 2 to 3 feet likely Monday. Multi day recovery for airlines.

Monday has been cancelled for NYC. Heavy snow in store for Monday AM. Unless weather models shift this weekend, we'll have 6 to 10" of snow accumulate on the ground between 11pm Sunday and Noon on Monday.

The trend is for NYC to see less than 6 inches but it's not a done deal. This is a major storm and a small shift would mean heavy snow. Eastern LI has the best chance for over 6 inches. Impactful snow more likely Monday than Sunday.

NYC update: Don't sleep on the Sunday-Monday snow but so far the trend is more miss than hit for NYC. Storm has potential to bring over a foot but the track isn't one that would bury NYC...so far. Good confidence expected Friday afternoon.

NYC had a melt down today. For the 1st time in 24 days, the reported snow depth at Central Park was 0 inches. This was the longest snow depth streak in 5 years.

NYC won't see the sun again until the weekend. Look for showers and fog Wednesday. Rain returns for Friday. Sunday, snow chance.

It's sNOw big deal. Late flakes tonight for NYC. 1" or so of slush/wet snow. Slippery travel late tonight before sunrise on Monday.
