Thanks to all who came out to our young adult Friendsgiving on Sunday evening! It was a blast, and such a joy to meet young Episcopalians from across the Diocese.

Young adults (anybody ~40 and under!)! You are invited to a fabulous Friendsgiving feast here at St. Mark's on Sunday (Nov. 23) at 3 p.m. Don't be shy; please join us! There will be abundant food and fun for all.

Blessed All Saints' Day! St. Mark's kids spent their Godly Play period last Sunday constructing a lovely Offrenda, an altar celebrating those whom we love but see no longer. The Offrenda will remain in place through the end of 10:30 Eucharist tomorrow;

Happy Reformation Day! 508 years ago, Martin Luther nailed his '95 Theses' to the church door in Wittenburg, kickstarting the Protestant Reformation and changing Western Christianity forever!

Our pumpkins are ripe for a'carving! Join Solomon's Porch, St. Mark's young adults group, for our annual pumpkin carving this Wednesday at 6:15 p.m. We'll provide pumpkins, tools, and entertainment- all you need to bring is 1) yourself, 2) a snack to share, and 3) a friend! See you there!

Today is the feast day of St. James of Jerusalem, know to our Eastern Orthodox brethren as St. James the Just. The Scriptures list St. James as the brother of Our Lord, and it is believed that he only became a disciple of Christ after the resurrection.

We have a new Canon to the Ordinary, and we think that he's pretty extra-ordinary ;) Welcome Canon Jeff!

St. Mark's animals were *drenched* in God's blessings for St. Francis' Day! The outpouring of God's love for all created things was so powerful, in fact, that the blessing had to take place under the cloisters ;) ⚓

Today Sarah Mullally, the Bishop of London, was appointed the new Archbishop of Canterbury. As the 106th person to fill that role, she will become the primate of the the Church of England and spiritual leader of more than 85 million Anglicans worldwide.

In honor of St. Francis' day (this Saturday!), we will be conducting our annual Blessing of the Animals in the Cathedral courtyard at 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 4, 2025. Animals of all faith traditions are welcome. Bring a friend (human or pet) along! Mass will follow at 5 p.m.

On Sunday, we bid farewell to Fr. Tyler, who served as the Dean and Rector of the Cathedral Church of St. Mark for 10 years. So long, Tyler; you will be missed.

As you likely know, our Dean Tyler Doherty has resigned due to ongoing illness. Fr. Tyler plans to join us for worship on September 28th, to preach a last sermon and to say goodbye in person. We will celebrate his ministry with a BBQ in the parish hall after the service.

As many of you know, Mary June is leaving us to return to her well-deserved retirement in DC. Her last Sunday at St. Mark's was the 17th.

Last night, members (and former members) of the choir gathered in the parish hall to bid farewell to Evelyn, who is one of the longest serving choristers at St. Mark's. So long Evelyn, and thanks for all the music!

Today, the Church commemorates the life of Florence Nightingale, a nurse who became famous during the Crimean War for carrying a dim lamp through the wards of a British field hospital.

Walk the Road to Emmaus with us at our kickoff event! An Emmaus walk is a spiritual practice of uninterrupted listening and speaking based on the scriptural story of the Road to Emmaus (Luke 24). Join us at St. Paul's Episcopal Church (261 S. 900 E.) at 6:30 p.m. on August 20th!
