Haven't played Metroid Prime 4 -- but I have seen the negativity over the companions (federation troopers). I get the concern. But Metroid brilliance is the sum of all parts; so much cool stuff opens up. So I'm optimistic how polished & true most of the gameplay looks so far.

With the languishing state of Destiny 2, I completely forgot it probably currently has the coolest limited-time Halloween event skins its ever had (player-voted collection). Of course, that'll cost you 10-15 hours of playtime and vault management probably...unless you want to spend $45 on all 3.

Gotta give Remedy props for not sweeping FBC: Firebreak under the rug. The multiplayer Control spin-off gets its first major update. Perhaps more important than the new level or guns, Remedy is responding to much of the constructive criticism from launch. Tutorial level. Revamps to core gameplay.

Black Myth became one of the most popular games in the world with Wukong. The developer, Game Science, has revealed a brand-new title in the franchise. You won't be playing as the monkey man this time in Black Myth: Zhong Kui. No release date, no gameplay yet -- only this CG animated trailer.

One of the best multiplayer, live service-style games is returning... PlayStation's Ghost of Yōtei sequel will also get a Legends mode in 2026. Free DLC sometime after the main October 2nd, 2025 launch. Legends will again feature two-player, co-op story missions and four-player survival matches.

Battlefield 6 seems to be getting things right and hyping fans. On Steam alone, nearly a half-million or 400,000 have returned for the 2nd open beta weekend with days to go. BF6 releases on October 10, 2025.

I've no skin in Destiny 2's latest raid and endgame race. There's no true "wrong way. I just dislike how much raids have become a marketing event. More people watch the race than play. But does that explosive "week 1 race" really do much at this point?

I’m not too excited for Switch 2’s launch…and yet I am excited to have it finally. Mario Kart World will surely rock. Easy hit. But I’m missing the old GameCube days of being surprised by Super Monkey Ball, Star Wars: Rogue Squadron 2, Wave Race: Blue Storm and others. Pure surprise & delight.

Elden Ring Nightreign can be fun, but I had to put aside the feeling of being overwhelmed -- fed through the map-speedrun meat grinder of the matches. After 3 or so hours, I haven't felt much power gain from the "relics" you keep. Moreso it's been the knowledge and getting a cohesive team.

Elden Ring Nightreign looks to be blazing up the charts with nearly 300,000 players already live concurrently on Steam/PC alone. This on the heels of some 30-million-plus sold of Elden Ring. Meta/OpenCritic have the game rated at a 75%-80%.

Not surprising. Doom: The Dark Ages reviews has nabbed a lot of 80-90% ratings. I'm about a third through it; just feels good. A chunky, shield-y, modern FPS. Great pace. Addictive upgrade loop on guns, shield, melees makes you want to replay levels. Environmental puzzles here and there.

Doom: The Dark Ages is very good. Easy to see after just several hours of play. Early Access edition gatekeeping and upselling is, however, one of the worst parts of modern gaming.

Sephiroth hit me with an ultimate ability nobody could see coming: FATAL CRASH ERROR I lost like an HOUR (60 mins.) of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth gameplay on this one. UGH. Games really need better save systems. 😢

When is Doom: The Dark Ages coming out? The prequel to 2016's reboot release is imminent today. While the next Doom's release date is May 15, it launches on May 12 in early access at 5PM PT / 8PM ET. Are you hopping in to slay out?

Hmm. Don’t be fooled “gameplay" will look like these cinematic shots. GTA 6 is going to look incredible - love Rockstar’s detail and cinematic flair. But true gameplay is when you CONTROL a character or car in the open world. Real-time physics simulation, camera, etc. Not much to go on here yet.
