Quin Snyder, talking about incorporating new players: “The style that KP played in Boston was very different. The style that Nickeil played in Minnesota was very different.”

Luke Kennard: “Coach (Quin Snyder) has told me a lot: He wants to get my attempts up per game.”

“What (Zaccharie) is getting better at is making really quick reads … The variety in his game offensively is growing, where it’s not just him making a jump shot or running in transition – those are two really important things for us … You’re seeing more variety in the things he can do.”

Dyson Daniels said that to counter being guarded by a big, which he noted might be more prevalent with Porzingis around, Quin Snyder wants the Hawks to play in transition in order to take advantages of cross-matches.

For a second time this week, Quin Snyder praised Jalen Johnson’s attention to detail on the defensive end in practices.

Trae Young was pleased with what he saw in the first game. Noted that Sengun guarding Daniels slowed offense down early in 1Q because it was a wrinkle they haven’t covered in practice yet. “It was good that we figured it out.”

Jalen Johnson, on what stands out to him about this team: "We're tall. I was just looking around when we were doing the huddle and stuff, and I'm like, 'Damn, we're pretty big.' You've got KP who is like 7'5". We've got a lot of tall guys and lanky guys."

Part of Quin Snyder's response on Jalen Johnson playing with a new roster: "Jalen has really been focused defensively, too, just trying to be down (in a stance) and doing the little things that he has taken pride in -- and that shows his maturation as a player."

Kristaps Porzingis said that different trade destinations were in play, and it went down when he was asleep in Europe. "When I saw that (the trade) was to Atlanta , I was happy. Very, very happy. I'm not selling to you. It was true."

Nickeil Alexander-Walker: “I wanted to be in an area where I could contribute to winning … Atlanta kind of ticked every box for me.”

Dyson Daniels, on his offseason: “I worked a lot on my midrange game.”

With the usual contingencies on not having even had a practice yet, Quin Snyder said that he did feel that he could use any combination of two of Jalen Johnson, Onyeka Okongwu, and Kristaps Porzingis as his two bigs.

Quin Snyder said that he talked with Trae Young last week. Said that the key for his season is efficiency. Noted that Trae was one of NBA's best at hit-ahead passes and he wants more. Also wants him to make an impact defensively.
