Kayaking in winter in Sitka is a thing. Some perfect days out with the whales. The herring are spawning and there are bubble-netting humpbacks, as well as grey whales in the Sound right now.

Postcards from French Polynesia. Still a paradise. We were thrilled to find intact coral reefs, lots of fish, uncrowded beaches, and a proud thriving Native culture.

So this is Tahiti; Huahine, actually. And yes. Pretty much paradise.

Finally got my Subaru Solterra yesterday. It was shipped on the ferry to Sitka from Juneau. I hadn't actually driven it before and it was a thrill testing the EV acceleration. Saw a whale spout and everything. It must be a sign. Looking forward to reading the mountain of owner manuals.

Crazy day in Juneau today. Flew in at 5am. Got to the car service place to get my car. Bike rack and expensive bike on top are missing. Scoured the lot and found some parts and the way they got in. 2 hours later spotted some people spray-painting my bike one block away. Grabbed it back. 🤢🤮New color.

I got to sail with my sister for the first time ever, and we had a perfect day with gray whales. Loved it.

New drink invented. THE HERRING SPAWN 2 parts silver or anejo Tequila 1 prt fresh lime juice 6-8 glops orange bitters 1 prt sweetened coconut syrup. Shake in drink shaker with ice or blend. Add soda water to taste. Stir. Add lime slice to glass Toast to spawning herring getting busy. Enjoy.

Somewhere around 300 real people and 7 trumpsters showed up in Sitka today. I'm proud to live here.
