Nurses are not allowed to use your personally held beliefs against patients. All patients must be treated with dignity and respect, and their personal and medical information are confidential.

This wasn’t a radical or unreasonable wish list. It was what any group of patients would ask for in a healthcare system that’s meant to support them. The question isn’t whether young people spoke clearly. It’s whether the system was prepared to listen.

Where is the evidence that withholding care improves outcomes? Because all the evidence I have seen says young people who receive support do better. So why are we debating this?
