Arrived in Arrowmarche after a somewhat scenic drive trying to avoid the 'peage', gave up in the end. Now enjoying some great local beers in Les Bains d'Ete. Totteuse Blonde on tap & a couple of Normandy Beer Factory beers in bottles.

We did find a couple of local beers on yesterdays ride...

350km chalked up in Abbeville, but we move down to Arrowmarche 2moro & hopefully some better beer & food options. Mind you, the off-road riding has been fabulous around here as has the apartment. The beer & food, disappointing but we came for the event & the trails. 2days tractor count 50!

As you saw earlier, we finally pinned a number on after 18 mths of shit etc. La Ronde Picarde Gravel in Abbeville, an epic 70km, rain started as we crested the 1st climb which made it very sketchy. Fantastic result, well happy to finish mid pack but @beerbabe-uk.bsky.social was 5th o/a & 1st age Cat

Glorious day here in France. Spin down the river to Saint Valery sur Somme for an explore, before stopping at Au Repos des Pecheurs. Funky little place on the river, Brasserie du Somme Blonde & their version of a croc. Temp 28c tractor 🚜 count just 4.

Gentle drive up to Abbeville on the Somme River. Fabulous apartment, maybe an oasis here, I feel. Quai 22, interesting draft line up but not bottles or food as such, but we will return

Crossing to Le Harve was not the smoothest but calmed down part way across. Found our little apartment for the night then wandered back to L'Havrais Brewpub. Great selection of their own beers, pizza & snacks, perfect 👌

Harvest Day for the hops, maybe a week late, but still magnificent this year. Oh, that smell, that's why we grow them, to be honest.

Following the debacle of the final stage of La Vuelta today it is obvious that the Tour de France should not hold it's 2026 Grand Depart in Barcelona as planned. There is no way that their Gov. or law enforcement will want to or even be able to guarantee the safety of the teams & riders.

Probably our final visit to The Six Bells Newdigate as they close 2moro evening. Another pub gone & a huge loss to the village & community. Excellent Shere Drop as it always has been there. Very sad 😔

81 years ago today, in 1944, Ieper was liberated by the 21st Polish Armoured Division under the command of the legendary General Stanislaw Maczek. A true war hero if ever there was one, he & his boys liberated much of Northern France, Flanders right up into the Netherlands. Beer from De Poes.

Excellent day trip on the train for Horsham Tap & Vine yesterday. Sampled 6 breweries beers & visited 7 of the venues (walked past a couple more as well). Some really good pubs, especially the Rock & Anchor Tap. One thing though, is the number of breweries all brewing indistinguishable pales & IPAs.

Reward for designing and building our own hedgehog house out of reclaimed wood ie the doors from the shed we never fitted 9 years ago! Now sitting deep in the laurel hedge where we know there are at least 4 hogs around most nights.

A somewhat underwhelming Tractor Fest at Dorking Brewery 2day, just 15 tractors when we arrived at 1.30ish so we adjourned to the Crown instead for some Greensand IPA.

Final visit to The Coracle micropub on our walk back to the hotel. Always a good vibe in the place. Heading home 2moro.

400ft of elevation gain in a 2 mile wandle out of the Gorge through the backstreets of Ironbridge to the folks for a day of sorting, gardening & alterations. Is it beer o'clock yet ?

Wandle up to the Coalbrookdale Inn for a 2nd visit this trip, really is returning to its best. The an explore of the backroads & alleyways that the tourists never see.

15km blast back up Cycle Route 45 on gravel to the Woodbridge, Coalport, excellent range of beers although the strongest was still only 4.5% but just under a fiver a pint. Lovely setting above the Severn with a great view of the, er, metal bridge

Ludlow Gold and a scotch egg at the Blackboy, a real friendly locals pub with the banter to go with it, in the back streets of Bridgnorth.

Oh, the disappointment 😞

Our 2nd 'special day' of this trip, Margaret's 89th birthday today. Lunch at the Black Swan in Jackfield, a lovely day.

4th stop of the day, the Swan Taphouse in Ironbridge, utter rubbish! It's one of the pubs on this years Shropshire Ale Trail, why? Just one cask, Wainwright's & about 10 crap fizzy beers. Food was passable, nothing special but did what it said on the label. Probably our one & only ever visit, I hope

3rd stop, the Coalbrookdale Inn, Camra National Pub of the year back in 1995. Haven't been in for a few years but a new landlord seems to have brought it back to live. Great selection of beers on tap & lively conversation amongst the the locals. Heading back to its best 👌
