Our latest electricity bill just came in, our 1st full month with a feed in tariff to the grid. Electricity imported = 82p Electricity exported = £205.98 !!! Is solar worth it ? A big old YES from us.

Cheese, the trappist monks on the Mont des Cats in the area produce several using cow milk, subtle & creamy

Good little haul of cidre and a mix of French & Belgium beers, oh and a few Brets Crisps to be going on with. Well you cannot go to Brittany without stocking up on Brets can you.

Had to be Moules again before the ferry. Treated to a sight of Queen Mary 2 heading out as we headed into Portsmouth this evening.

Leaving a joyously sunny Europe but mid Channel & Britain appears to be sitting under a dark cloud, have we missed something while we've been away ?

Popped into another V&B @bonsvoeux1.bsky.social out on an ind estate in Caen. Excellent selection of beers & a cozy bar with beer garden too. Interesting concept I must say.

La Marine, by the ferry entrance at Ouistreham, what a find. New owners have transformed the place. Excellent moules & steaks & a Belgium tap list that puts many in Belgium to shame. Back 2moro before the ferry I feel.

Last night in Plouguerneau this trip, so obviously it's Bar Ha Gwin. Coreff Dramm Blond on tap followed by Avarus Brin d'Zinc Triple, L'urbaine, LA Grunge West Coast DIPA, and Sìbìn na Mòine Stout, all local craft beers 🍻 I love this place, but I fear we may be the last to be kicked out again.

Morning all from Plouguerneau...

So lucky with the weather today at Trobroleon, rode to the start in fairly heavy rain. By start it had stopped. Slightly wet by 1 rogue dump. Back in the apt & it's dumping. Trobroleon Gravel was a tough 116.7km 1250mtr day for us but @beerbabe-uk.bsky.social was 3rd o/a on the 104. Beer,pizza,bed.

VE Day, Europe remembers it with respect, way better than the UK. Caught the end of the service here in Plouguerneau, visited their cemetery & visited JJ, in Landada, from a Canadian branch of Clan McNeill where we left a Poppy & thanked for making today possible.

We hit Lilia late afternoon just as the promised clear blue skies arrived. Les Routes Des Phares a fabulous creperie for Terenez Tripel on tap & well crepes of course in the lovely sunshine 🌞 as the tide slowly began to come in. Fabulous 63km day..

40km loop so far checking out the final 9 Ribons for the Tro Bro Leon Pro race on Sunday. Got soaked & filthy on the 2.2km ribin 5. Grabbed a couple of beers 🍻 at TY Libraire in the middle of Lannilis, then Team Q36.5 ride past, a bit of cheering & we're 1 bidon better off, cheers guys.

Made the long drive down to Plougerneau in Brittany. Settled into our lovely apartment, we've stayed here before & done a little shop. Now enjoying a couple of beers at the fabulous Bar Haa Gwin another Cave/Bar that we have lived in our last 2 visits. Coref IPA & Sìbìn Big IPA for me.

Last evening in Mayenne after a washout day. Scored some tubeless valves thankfully as we need to replace one before the wend. Enjoying as evening of craft French beers in V&B Cave/Bar, definitely the best place in town for beer & atmosphere.

It's Christmas here in Mayenne

Quiet spin down the old railwayline towards Laval, then across to the River Mayenne. 45km in & a lovely little snack bar was open & they have beer. BAM from Montflours, just 7km away, a co-operative that started as a hobby in 2009 & uses local wheat & barley as well as local hops. Ambrèe & Blonde.

Recovery day exploring Mayenne on foot. The history, buildings & the Basilique Notre-Dame-des-Miracles were quite spectacular, & all the better for it being a quiet Sunday. Other towns with the kind of history that Mayenne has would be buzzing but the tourists haven't found this place yet...

Our 2nd stop was another 'Cave/Bar' joint V&B, not such a big draft list but a good bottle selection & the service was top notch. Excellent shop including lots of Watou beers, Leroy & St Bernardus. Their own branded glasses, La Chouffe & Corsendonk Rouge tried, friendly staff & great atmosphere 👍

Once back in Mayenne we headed out on foot in search of some beers. 1st stop was Gaston & Cie a 'Cave/Bar' place, good draft & bottle selection, but oh the @beerglassphemy.bsky.social going on was too much. Excellent plank + 4 French beers b4 hitting a couple of Belgiums in their correct glasses.

BabyBel Gravel in Evron, a brutal 60km 900+mtrs climbing event using some proper hardcore gravel, wondered why there were some mtbs at the start. With @beerbabe-uk.bsky.social How it started...
