From small beginnings in a flat in central London, we have grown to become the UK's leading HIV and sexual health charity, and one of the largest in Europe.

There is a period of time between: • when someone picks up an infection through sex  • and when our tests can accurately detect it This is called a 'window period'.  Different STIs can have different window periods.

PrEP is highly effective against HIV, but it doesn't replace testing. PrEP doesn't prevent other STIs so it works best when used along with condoms and regular testing.  It's also good to have regular confirmation that you don't have HIV and that the PrEP is working as expected.

If you're thinking about new healthy habits to form this year, don't forget to consider your sexual health. Routine testing is important for maintaining good sexual health as many STIs have no symptoms.

Make sure you have enough PrEP and condoms to last you through the festive period. We'll be pausing our services over Christmas and New Year so if you need any sexual health care or HIV support from us, now is the time to visit.

The festive period can be tricky. There's often pressure to commit to loads of plans that may involve alcohol and other substances. This can throw you off your routine and add extra stress.

Mpox vaccination is advised for people who are eligible, while the UKHSA assesses the significance of the strain.

People who inject drugs are most at risk for hepatitis C. Most pharmacies take part in needle and syringe programmes, where you can get new, clean injecting equipment and advice for staying safe. You can also return any used equipment so that it can be safely disposed of.
